    Team: Hartlepool United

    Joined the Football League:
    1921

    Honours:
    mmmmmmm…..

    Highest League Finish:
2nd in Third Division North 1957

    Last League meeting with Pompey:
    12 February 2013, League One
    Hartlepool 0-0 Pompey

    Last season’s average home attendance:
    3,613

    Last 5 seasons:
    2013: 23rd in League One
    2012: 13th in League One
    2011: 16th in League One
    2010: 20th in League One
    2009: 19th in League One

    Factoid:
Hartlepool had to apply for re-election to the league more times than any-one else (14 times)

    Trivia Question:
Which FOUR sides failed to get re-elected during the 1970s?

Wait, is that correct? I was sure we played Hartlepool away before Christmas.

Bradford Park Avenue, Newport County, Barrow Town and Workington Town. They were replaced by Wimbledon, Hereford, Cambridge Utd and Wigan Ahletic but I can't remember what order.

    Am I right?

You have the correct four gaining entry into the league but only 3 out of 4 for the failures:
Cambridge replaced Bradford Park Avenue in 1970
    Hereford replaced Barrow in 1972
    Wimbledon replaced Workington in 1977.

Newport were relegated from the Fourth Division in 1988.

    So who did Wigan replace.........?

It must be Southport as I thought they went in the 1980s but you say that was newport County, Dev.

So can we stop the rot on Saturday?

Hartlepool are on a good run at home so they will be feeling confident of getting 3 points.

How many Pompey fans are making the long journey to the North east?

We'll get plenty of news from this game as Stelling goes on about Hartlepool all afternoon usually.

Maybe this will be a 0-0 score.

Flinders appears to be a good goalie and the whole lot sounds a bit scrappy.

Come on Pompey, score a goal. Jeff Stelling's reaction will be priceless!

Well that sounds like a big step forward for us.

As a striker Guy always went for the attack - As a defender AA goes for the defence of a point.

Sounded like we played much better this time <ok>

Sonny Bradley had a good game, and Ryan Bird played his socks off.
