The Forum throbbed with bitterness and heated exchanges earlier today, some understandable, some not so,regarding one of our previous Managers.

Let's assume that our current Manager were to leave next week, who out of the following list, assuming they were all available and wanted the job, would you choose as his replacement.

Give reasons if you are so moved.

    1) Brian Flynn

    2) Kenny Jackett

    3) Roberto Martinez

    4) Paulo Sousa

    5) Brendan Rodgers

Which one would make us more successful, and in so doing cement our place in the Premier League?

I think that would mean putting the managers in order Vetch but that's going to create arguments too I think. <laugh>

For me each one ascending built on his predecessor but Flynn and Jacket, as good as they were for us, have done nothing since that make me think they're up to this level.

Martinez - yes in a heartbeat because he's learned his craft since leaving us and has shown he can walk the walk. Sousa is an interesting one and I was actually talking about him with my son earlier today. He regrets leaving the Club and one can only imagine what he might achieve with a decent front line. One thing's for certain we wouldn't ship half as many goals. He's been successful overseas since his departure and by all accounts he's learned how to set up his teams to score goals too. Not my first choice but interesting.

I'd have Rodgers back tomorrow and he would be my first choice. Our most successful manager in recent times apart from Laudrup and again has shown that he can take a massive club like Liverpool and fundamentally change their ethos. Big players who have been there for years have bought into it and he's got them playing like the Liverpool of yesteryear. He's shown faith in their youth and has bought astutely, with a few exceptions. Not many managers have the cahunas to even try that let alone pull it off in fairness.

As much as I dislike his stunt in triggering the Allen buyout clause I have to give credit where it's due.

Without hesitation, I'd plump for Martinez <ok>

I always had a liking for Sousa, and was very disappointed when he left.

His tenure at Swansea was short lived, and I feel he has unfinished business here,so would put him at the top of my list,a whisker in front of Rodgers, with Martinez a very close third.

We know what we got with all the managers named but how about a combination of Sousa and Martinez working in tandem ? a combination of styles could be awesome ,just a thought.
No-one mentions Hollins who I thought was decent if not inspiring manager and he took us up a level with limited resources. If we had not had the "dark "period of the Petty/Cusack etc era , I wonder would we have had the success we're seeing now , looking back it was probably the best thing that could have happened to us.

    1) Brian Flynn - Lazy. Tactically hopeless.

    2) Kenny Jackett - Most trustworthy. Not brilliant football.

    3) Roberto Martinez - C*nt. Count your fingers after shaking hands with him.

    4) Paulo Sousa - Nice guy but boring football.

    5) Brendan Rodgers - Oytstandin'. Probably the best of the lot, although take Suarez away and the picture would look very different.

Setting aside his mercenary past here I'd say Martinez with Sousa as his number 2 would be ideal.
Rogers has lead a charmed life since we picked him out of obscurity.

There must be better options out there though ?
