Devante has gone to Maidenhead on a 3 month loan. This of course will stump Grumps plan to play him a striker!!!
Well some may think Grumpy is an idiot for suggesting Devante as a striker, Grumpy say's 2 goals in the last 5 league games means he couldn't do much worse.
Guess we'll never find out in the short term. If we did not rely on him so much at the back, Kortney Hause might be worth a punt. Good in the air, strong enough to hold up play. Recently scored for England U/20's. Don't know how Wolves might feel about us playing him out of position though. He's injured? Oh B..... !
Devante has always looked the quality player when I have seen him, admittedly mostly against poor opposition. I worry he is destined to be another one that never makes it though under Taylors inept leadership. If he was serious about bringing through youth then McKaine is another player who should be in the squad on a regular basis. I would stomach this league position if week in week out we were using these good youngsters.
What nonsense to suggest that Taylor has been reluctant to promote youth when the reality is the opposite. Taylor has selected youngsters week in week out almost to a fault and most thinking fans approve in the knowledge that a team with plenty of under 25s will be better next season and better still the season after. At present we see regularly Dack, Davies, Dickenson, Egan, Hause, Hessenthaler, and Norris, all of whom are 21 or under. Egan is only a few days past 21. Fish, German, Hoyte, Linganzi Martin, Morris, and Pritchard are 25 or under. Not all these names will make it but plenty of them will and it is ludicrous to suggest that younsters are not getting a chance under the current set up. Fans need to back this policy and be patient not least because youngsters make errors and play inconsistently, there is nothing a manager can do to overcome the inconsistency of youth, it is a price that has to be paid to achieve success. Success is built around a mix of youth and experience. MA got the balance badly wrong with old players on the brink of decline but still able to deliver short term success. It was a lesson in short termism. Taylor's approach is dead right for a club with the financial resources of Gillingham and he is showing real courage in his approach. Yes, the club will be at risk of relegation this year but it is far more likely that they will stay up....just. Either way we can see what he is trying to do and he deserves 100% support.
Not sure why the need to have a dig at mad dog there Bristol. Uncalled for in my opinion. Your post was very good up until that point. A needless pop at someone who's goal was to achieve promotion which he did and bagged a league title too.
