    not really no.

this board is full of negativity, we finished 12th last season and for a newly promoted club that is a fantastic achievement in today's climate. if we can stay up comfortably with that squad, why start crying before a ball is even kicked with a better squad!

i read an article posted earlier about how it is mike ashley's fault that we have missed out on targets. to be fair all i have read is that we arent willing to pay obscene amounts of money for joe average like other clubs are, which is a SMART thing to do, on top of that there are some players who just simply dont want to be at newcastle, and remember what happened last time we were represented by gutless mercinaries turning up for a payday?

yes we have got £35 mil from andy carrolls sale, but lets put this into perspective.
we are a club in debt (not as much as we were before ashley, but still in debt non the less), so we look in the bargain bin to try and push forward season after season any extra would go towards wages, extra fees, bonuses etc etc on top of wiping out a portion of debt.

forgive me if i am incorrect but the MD and owner said there was to be a FIVE YEAR plan in place for this football club to balance its books and be competitive in the top 10 on a constant basis.

another thing to remember is that when clubs agree fees with each other its usually based on payments over time. for example (im not saying it is like this. its simply a theoretical situation) liverpool pay 15 mil to newcastle for carroll then pay 10 mil the year after and 10 mil the year after that. so 1) we might not have all the money yet, and 2) if we based our future transfers upon the liverpool money being paid over time, then we risk gaining debt rather than rebuilding over 5 years.

theres so much i want to say to the doom and gloom mongerers on here but i really cba to mention why they should shut up whinging.

WE HAVE 4 NEW SIGNINGS, IT DOESNT MATTER HOW MUCH THEY COST, ABILITY AND DESIRE WIN MATCHES, NOT ZERO'S ON A CHEQUE

Ashley does not care about this club, he doesn't invest his own money for transfers so he relies on selling our best players to pay for players and agent fees. He doesn't communicate with us and he gives bonuses to staff at sports direct and he wants to pay 2 million to lee westwood if he wins the open. Sorry but he has this club right where he wants until he gets a good fee for the club.

Maybe, but you can't deny he has bankrolled the club since he took over. Also, you can't deny that he has made serious efforts to reduce our debts. Obviously that is good for him as well but it puts the club on better footing for the future.

not once in my article did i say you cant have your opinion.
so let me get this right. i disagree and you think i cant have my opinion in return? (see how that works?)

the point of this article was never to be a pro-ashley article. it doesnt take a genius to see that he is only in it for himself. but if he wants to line his own pockets, he needs a stable asset so i highly doubt he is going to make our club go down the swanny. otherwise he would have done it a long time ago.

the main point is stop whinging before a ball has even been kicked. its **** fans like you lot who got our club relegated when the club got egged on into buying mercinaries who wanted to fill their pockets

Rep! Great article, sick of the doom mongers. People who think Ashley is taking money out of the club would mean he is turning a profit, which he isnt. The club also owes him a great deal of money so some has to be taken back, unless our next owner is expected to pay the loan off.

mike ashley has the right to do with his money what he wants to do. its his for a reason. what people like you dont realise is the intrest free money he puts into this club year after year. HIS OWN MONEY.

ontop of that point. even if mike did take a portion of club revenue, isnt he entitled to get his money back?

Well said Steele, finally an article i agree with. stopped coming on here for a while because the negativity started to poison me and found myself worrying at points. but im not a negative person.
Im well chuffed with how things are going and ive been a campaigner for forgive and forget with MA for a good while now. He makes rash decisions, as a proper businessman should. but alas there is always uproar from the fans for even the slightest change to anything to do with Newcastle F.C. thank goodness he doesnt respond to such idiotic behaviour as it has no place in todays brand of football.

Things are well and truely on the up. And in 5 or 10 years time when success finally comes our way. Ill be happy to stare at the faces of those who said he was ruining our club, when people look back way in the future and what Ashley has done for the club as a turning point in Newcastles fortunes.

I don't think it's so much depressing times, more unrealised potential times.

I read in the Guardian today that Sports Direct announced a 200m profit this year

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/...ign=Feed: theguardian/football/rss (Football)

"On the day that the club owner Mike Ashley's Sports Direct business announced profits of £200.4m"

So he obviously knows how to run a business and that is exactly what he sees Newcastle United as (and technically what it is). Im not sure about Cashley...I think he has made some big decisions that I dont necessarily agree with, but I didnt make 200m this year...so who is more qualified to make the decisions with a club in debt?

Im pretty happy with the signings we have made, hopefully we will get a couple more, but like steele mentioned and we all know, this is a 5 Year plan. We were promoted the season before last. Im very happy with the direction of this club. I just worry that if we have a bad season, we will sell some crucial players...something Ashley has already showed he has no problems with.
