Berbatov - Bit above us in wages
Defoe - Possible depending on whether he would move to Durham
Johnson - Very possible, however would need to take a wage dip
Benayoun - Average player imo, could do a job for us but not much better than colback/catts/vaughan imo
Pienaar - Would give cover to McClean, little bit of quality still left in him imo

Id take defoe and johnson, and if cheap pienaar

Berbatov, wouldn't go to a club not in champions league or europa, it would either be a top 4-6 team in a different league or to China for a ****load of money with the rest of the mercenaries.

Defoe, would be a decent signing for you as you desperately need a goalscorer, and defoe has the record to back it up, getting on though and not what he once was, plus hes a bellend.

Johnson, as in Adam Johnson? No offence but I think he could sign for a better club, not saying that we could be that club because we wouldn't pay his wages anyway. But if you did pull it off it would be a great coup, the type of player you need to bring you onto the next level.

Benayoun, good player and is definitely better than "Catts" and Vaughan, different kind of players but hes a step above either of them, Colback I think very highly of so fair shout on him.

Pienaar, a lot better than he is given credit for, he failed at Spurs due to them having an abundance of quality midfielders but the last I heard he was chuffed to be back at Everton and wants to stay there, again no offence but why would he leave a better club where hes happy to come to you? Probably on the same level as Mc Clean. Mc Clean will be better in time though if he keeps improving.

Berbatov will go to a CL team

    Defoe would join you

Johnson will go to a CL/Europa team (not us even if we could afford his wages)

Benayoun would be a good signing. He and Colback would make an excellent partnership imo

Pienaar will go back to Everton <laugh>. He should never have left that club.

The rest are players you do not want to touch. They are truly awful with the possible exception of Anderson who may recapture his form.

Would take Johnson and Benayoun, but not the rest. Defoe would only come if he had no other options, plus (as TWD says) he's a bell-end. Ditto Berbatov minus the bit about being a bell-end. Pienaar suits a certain style of play and I'm not sure we're it.

The others on the list are interesting, esp. Santa Cruz. If he got back to form he could be just what we need.

Defoe - Why would it depend if he'd move to Durham? In all honesty hed get a nose bleed north of Watford, no chance he'd move north and theres no chance wed get any of those

Due to living in London, he isnt going to move into Sunderland, it would be Durham/Newcastle as lets face facts, Sunderland isnt the most well built area in the world

For some reason I just can't see Santa Cruz ever being the player he was, just seems like such a long time ago now since he was banging them in for fun.

we were linked with him in january and he made it clear he didnt want to move to newcastle, id find it odd if he moved to sunderland as apart from europa (which we didnt have then) we both offer a similar appeal! except weve far more handsome players <whistle>

Adam Johnson - 100% absolutley yes

Defoe - yes if he really wants to leave the smoke as he is a top quality striker still in his prime
Benayoun - definately would improve our creative midfield requirement
Piennar - jurys out and would rather have McGeady for 7m personally
Berbatov - 1 million% no, no, no .no.
