Although Arsenal had a number of clear opportunities, I think on another day we could have nicked a point from the game. Central midfield looked pretty good (another quality display from Faurlin: I'm worried he's a transfer target), but toothless upfront. Cut out the basic mistakes, and a few select signings and I'm oping we'll stay in the PL by the skin of our teeth!
I though Faurlin and Barton were very good today, Faurlins calmness on the ball was easy to be seen and Barton made some good challenges in the area and made some fantastic passes out to the wings
Arsenal were fortunate we didn't have any cutting edge up front, too often the vital ball was f*cked up. We need better players, end of...
We played very well and we got a lot of luck but on the whole Arsenal were better and deserved to win I'm afraid
Bothroyd was ineffective today, although I guess NW was resting Helguson for Monday, which is a must win game now for us.
Just seen Wenger interview on SSN and he was full of praise for us particularly the midfield so surely with decent signings up front and CB's we will get more points in the second half of season - hopefully enough to keep us up!
Agree with that. Plus I think that although he made a few sloppy passes I thought Tarbs looked lively again. An opportunity missed.
RVP is keeping arsenal up top on his own atm, if it wasn't for him we'd have got a point. Not sure I agree about Barton today, thought he gave the ball away far too much. Swp is fookin killing me! Luke young I feel will quickly achieve the status of rangers legend pretty quickly the way he's going. Top player. Mackie, oh Mackie. Love him to bits but he's just not good enough. I know things don't look great, but we only have to play slightly better in the second half of the season to stay up, which is what we want to achieve. Then we can take the next step. Onwards and upwards. HNY to one and all.
Not quite sure what you mean by toothless up front. When you have a no9 on his own against 4 quality defenders and the nearest midfielder 40 yds away what is he supposed to do.Just 4 the record i think Both is totally out of his depth, but if you were a no9 looking to come to us what would you think.
Please, somebody get down to the training ground and show these overpaid pre madonnas how to efing shoot.
I understand Bracknell's NW resting Helguson today - but what happened to Paddy? I have not been keeping as close atention for the holidays and may have missed it, but he wasn't even listed as a sub - hopefully he wasn't rushed back in too soon
A 0-0 draw might have been a little lucky. Our offense seemed quite impotent and when chances arose it seemed we had the likes of Gabbidon & Connolly behind the ball attempting shots on goal rather than an established striker. We really needed a Taarabt wonder strike today. He showed some magic today with nice passes & touches but drifted in and out of the game.
Just back. Thought Arse were unlucky not to get more. Van Persie was class and what he does with his feet is fantastic. Don't really think we ever looked like scoring. Bothryod and Adel both 'naff' today and gutted all results went against us as it's now going to be very hard (even with the new players). Thought the stadium was really great but with 60K fans you would have thought it would have a good atmosphere? It didn’t I have heard more chanting at local Sunday football games. What a weird lot of fans Arse have. Cannot really moan as we are not expected to win these games and I will remind people what I said some weeks ago. You beat your Blackburns, WBA, Sunderlands,Boltons and Co at home or you will be in trouble. After today we are in real Trouble.
Today has shown we can't rely on other teams to be more crap than we are - Warnock has to work his magic on the transfer market and get 11 playing like a well oiled team pretty damn quick
Sorry for my previous post here - I have since read a few more posts on another thread with similar comment to mine
Not sure we deserved a point. They had the more chances that were clear chances to score, we had a few decent chances but no cringe worthy misses. Was always going to be a big ask to get anything there.
They needed SWP to make an error to let them in. Yes they had more chances but, for the standard expected of them, their finishing was poor too. I think a nil all draw would have slightly flattered us and annoyed the living daylights out of Wenger. I see the sense of possibly saving players for Monday but that will only make sense if the gamble comes off - hoping for a good result on Monday come 5pm.
