Firstly we get him not picking Ben Arfa over some spat in spite of Benny being arguably the best French player in the Prem at the moment and now you get this bull

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11678/8169306/Newcastle-midfielder-Yohan-Cabaye-shaped-by-France-says-Didier-Deschamps

France coach Didier Deschamps says Yohan Cabaye's stock has risen because of his displays on the international stage - and not his impressive performances for Newcastle.

Magpies midfielder Cabaye, 26, has already been linked with a move away from St James' Park after an excellent start to his Premier League career.

Following a £4.3million move from French side Lille in June 2011, he was instrumental in Newcastle's surprise fifth-place finish last term and also cemented his place in the national team.

Deschamps, whose side travel to Spain for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier, insists winning a regular place for France should be Cabaye's focus.

"One of my favourite sayings is: 'National team is above everything, you can play at the greatest clubs, but there is nothing stronger than winning with the shirt of your country'," said ex-Chelsea player Deschamps.

"I can give you an example - Yohan Cabaye. He didn't change his status because he joined Newcastle, it is because he has been called into the French team and he has matched expectation.

"Nowadays no-one could imagine the French team without him. But why?

"You really believe people look very closely at his performances with Newcastle? No, he got his status with Les Bleus, thanks to his good work for the French team."

Cabaye had only played four times for France before joining Newcastle, but is set to make his 19th appearance against reigning world champions Spain in Madrid.

<laugh> Great player. Has had an up and down managerial career and was very fortunate to be appointed to the national job based on his record. As for his comments on us, who cares. Anyone with half a brain will just dismiss them for what they are, the ramblings of an arrogant frenchman. Of course Newcastle are partly responsible for a rise in his stock, the player himself has admitted moving to Newcastle improved him. As a player improves people take notice. His involvement with France has undoubtedly also helped him. Its a mixture of the two.

If he wants to make a tit of himself, I say we keep quiet!

    Translation:

Establishing yourself as one of the best midfielders in the best (or perhaps second best) league in the world is not anything that anyone pays attention to. Cementing a palce in perhaps the most dyfunctional national team in Europe is all important.

Didi man syndrome. He's a tool and doesn't deserve being listened to.

Reading between the lines, Cabaye is a core part of the French starting lineup. Which both pleases and worries me. Couldn't care less about his own one-sided opinion though.
