    As we all knew:

    "The English team loses a lot. John is a leader. He is the captain, Steven Gerrard is not.

    "Gerrard is a soloist, a great player but has no impact off the field. In the life of the group, the leader is John Terry."

    Gerrard is a good player and the type to lead by example on the pitch. Terry is a proper Captain though on and off the field. I always thought Carragher was a much better man to be captain of Liverpool.

    As long as it's not Rooney though.
