Derry was expecting the FA to rescind his suspension for pulling back Manchester United's Ashley Young in Sunday's 2-0 defeat on the grounds that the winger was offside at the time. But to his dismay the referee's decision was upheld and the 34-year-old, who missed Wednesday's victory over Swansea due to the ban, has risked further action by slamming the FA. Derry told the mixlr official QPR call-in on Thursday: "I thought it was a foregone conclusion that it would be overturned and I would be available for last night. Everyone thought the FA would put it to bed that way. "I lined up in the training session to play, then I got a call from our assistant manager Mark Bowen who said it had been turned down and I was absolutely gobsmacked. To miss out on the next game is ridiculous really. "The e-mail we got back from the FA was one line telling me my appeal had not been successful. "That's as far as the e-mail went - there was no explanation as to why it was not overturned, or even any indication of why I got sent off in the first place. The whole scenario is quite bizarre really. "It was the single highlight of my career to lead a Premier League side out at Old Trafford - perhaps the pinnacle of my career. So I was bitterly disappointed to say the least. It is a tough pill to swallow." http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7668612/? Nice to finally hear it from the man himself, legend.
Shaun is a great model for younger players ,sadly i believe young players like to A**hole Youngs model more....Well ,one thing is good and the thing ,that Shaun is coming back with rested legs.
I listened to this, he said he didn't moan because, although he was bemused, shocked and angered, once the referee put the card up, the decision was final. Model pro
For the appeal to be successful the referee has to state that he has looked at the evidence and that his original decision was wrong, clearly Lee Mason is an even bigger **** that we first thought...
You have to admire Derry for the way he conducted himself at the time. Had it been any member of the opposition the referee would have been pushed, jostled and sworn at. Well done Mr Derry we are proud of you.
Derry has just blown any chance he had of being invited to join the Masonic Lodge at Wembley and getting 'looked after'..
nah it's fine, i listened to it, they asked him how he was notified and he just said he got a letter and that was it nothing malicous
[ So? The FA wont have the nerve to ban him. They're getting slated by quite literally everyone and if they choose the ban a player after refusing to rescind what has to be one of the worst awarded red cards this season, it will just bring more bad publicity to them. Plus even if they do, I would love the hear them try to explain how Ferguson or any other manager can say its a crap decision and get away with it but Derry can't
"It was the single highlight of my career to lead a Premier League side out at Old Trafford - perhaps the pinnacle of my career. So I was bitterly disappointed to say the least. It is a tough pill to swallow." I hope your proud of yourself Ashley Young, you cheating F**king C**t! Derry is ten times the man that you'll ever be. I really hate Man Utd now, never hated any team before. ( Dislike a few. ) Never ever again will I wish them to win anything.
Agree with that. Added, rested steel in the middle of the park this weekend is most welcome. Nothing against Akos' excellent performance (and even better goal) but I would swap the two for away matches.
At first I didn't know what you were on about Then I noticed, brilliant! One to save Glad to see skinman has filled you in re the pictures, have fun
