QPR veteran agrees two-year extension Last Updated: August 30, 2011 7:27am Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers midfielder Shaun Derry has agreed a new deal at Loftus Road. Derry played a key role in helping Rangers to promotion to the Premier League last season and he was promised a new deal by QPR boss Neil Warnock. The 33-year-old is in the final year of his contract, but he has now agreed a two-year extension to keep him at the club. Derry has arguably been QPR's best performer in their opening three Premier League games so far this term and he has been rewarded with fresh terms. The news is a major boost for Warnock as Derry has established himself as a key member of his squad since arriving from Crystal Palace last summer. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11711_7138119,00.html Well deserved Shaun! Keep up the good work.
Me too. I'm surprised though. Maybe his obituaries were too soon. Does this indicate a change of formation then? 4-4-2, 4-3-3?
Derry deal good We have also gone for Kasper Gorkss from Reading on a loan deal with Luke Young and SWP going the other way
Thought at one point he might have been persuaded to return to Palace. Glad I was wrong. I'm sure he's got an important part to play for us this season.
One year extension and not two as Sky reported. Makes more sense as he is 33 and will now be 35 when it expires.
I think it's a good deal and NW keeping to his word. He'll be a good investment too as a future coach and mentor, especially with the plans Tony has for an academy to develop a sound youth policy at the club (which we have all been harping on about for ages as a way to develop our own players and not be behoven completely to this over-inflated transfer market).
