Ive noticed several derelict pubs/wine bars all borded up and closed to rot in a right state which is such a shame when they could be turned into property for average earners to live in etc or run as a business again .What i would like to know if a property lies derelict for more than 6 months could u have a right to claim the property for your own use?

Does your own use involve a ouija board, an industrial tub of custard and the ghosts of the Kray twins?

As far as I'm led to believe, if a property lies derelict for 6 months, the fist person to curl one off on the front door, will be awarded custody of the building and the stool will be exchanged with the present owner.

I'd imagine the wine bar owners are a little miffed.

Move to Fulham Jonno, the pubs are rammed round there. West London alkies are all loaded, not like down your way where they sit in the park drinking White Lightening.

Who knows? In London it could go for anything up to £3m if someone was clever enough to demolish it and sell it to some city rich kid as a personal parking space.

And we could call them Hobbits instead of Hobos, wipe away cruel stereotypes and allow these drunken wastrels some dignity and a hole to call their own <ok>
