Seems plausible, he is on a free.... but he did turn down a contract at Hibs due to not being able to agree terms, and the same with Houston, so can we really offer that much more?

Several recent players who haven't made an impact here have achieved things north of the border. And I don't know the exact statistics or wage structure, but a lot of MLS players earn less than £1k a week.

I have no knowledge or opinion whatsoever on this person, but if we are in the running, those things shouldn't rule us out.

He does not seem all that special. 98 goals in 251 games in total in the scottish leagues is nothing to shout about really is it? Granted i has got 3 caps, but no goals there and no regular place. He does seem to be a bit of a cast-off. And at 5' 11" its not amazing. But on a free then it might work out as back up for sordell and possibly Deeney

I remember seeing him on TV last season playing for Hibs and he was pretty average. It would be a little harsh to judge him on one game though.

He's no DG but I think he'd be a decent signing.

Can't say I've seen a lot of him but I definitely can't see him being a back up behind Deeney and Sordell. 98 in 251 for an average side in a division the standard of the Championship / League 1 is not a bad return considering DG has scored 84 in 241 when excluding his prem appearances for Middlesbrough (ie in the Champ and League 1). I'd welcome him as a (cheap) replacement for DG if he can chip in with 10+ goals for the next couple of seasons.

yes welcome therealmuppet, but i would have to say looking at your single post here you can not be Bassini as you seem to have more football knowledge in your pinky than Bassini has in his entire body. It is interesting that DG and Riordan are so close in stats, maybe i am wrong to judge so fast. We will have to see if he does end up a Hornet

Thanks for the welcome all...and I can confirm that I am indeed not Baz!

To be honest, with regards to Riordan, I'm just happy to hear the club are rumoured to be investigating any avenues of transfers in at the moment, it looked for a minute that we'd be left with squad so thin we'd be using MM and SD in the back line with Kerslake at right back (obviously Lloyd would still be left back)!

    Hi TRM <ok>

I'm not too sure how much credence to place on this rumour - I thought our transfer targets were supposed to be youngish players that we could groom and sell on (hopefully at a profit). Riordan certainly doesn't fit that profile - IIRC he's about 29. Good player though - at SPL level - has an eye for goal as you say, and has a fair turn of speed. Not sure about his temprament though - has been known to let his mouth run away from him!

Asked my friend who is a Hearts fan (probs why I got said response about a Hibs player) who watches Scottish football as much as he can and he said the following:

"HAHAHA! Derek Rearend is a grade A &*£%. He's also vastly overrated. Only turns up for 1 game in 10. If he is Danny Graham's replacement then I'm putting money on Watford to go down this season."

    Only one opinion...
