Derek Adams 39yrs old.....bit of a hot head with several disciplinary cases against him and suspensions. BUT.......got little Ross County promoted twice,......Scottish Div 2 champions..... then Div 1 champions. Scottish Cup Final 2010. (lost 3-0) PFA Scottish Manager of the year 2011/12. Could be firework time at Home Park.....he could be Mr Marmite....like him or hate him......hang on to your hats.
Oh dear I have an awful feeling about this appointment and am totally underwhelmed ..... wonder what crap will be brought down from North of the border .... sorry meant wee nuggets
Come on people give the lad a chance, ok not everyone's favourite but has a good record and can only get better.
I think some need to get real: we are in League 2 and we are not going to entice Jose Mourinho from Chelsea. Even unemployed managers who've managed in the Premier League or significant clubs in the Championship recently will have had six figure pay-offs at least in the case of the latter and 7 figure in the former. They will believe, rightly or wrongly, that another such job around the corner and won't come here especially if they're told they have to move house & home to avoid the criticism Sheridan got. This guy has full managerial experience at least as compared to the likes of Coughlan, who's only been a number 2. He's young (for what's that's worth) and presumably therefore energetic and ambitious. He did tear up trees at Ross County on a small budget, whatever you think about Scottish football. The trouble is with changing managers is that the devil you know/devil you don't know rule applies, which is one of the reasons I'm usually against doing it. He may be a spectacular success or a unmitigated disaster. Only time will tell, but in the meantime, let's give him a chance and not write him off by comparison to other managers who were always beyond reach anyway.
He was no doubt the cheapest option as well. Just hope we don't get a load of That crap they call footballers from up there as we seen them here before.. Well i suppose this is the start of Brent's 5 year plan.. I think we could have done better than this somehow.. Would rather have had Coughlan... at least he know's the english game.. can't say much for the scotish league as the conference is on a par with their premier league..
Can we afford to have a divided dressing room and fan base things are fragile as it is ..... Time will tell if Marmite is the man for the job, how many touchline bans has he had ?
We need a bit of aggression on the line some times.. sheridan was like a statue!! but that also can affect the team..
That kind of passion can be an advantage can't it Plymjools? Come on admit it, there are times as fans we'd like to see the manager punch the 4th official on the nose. God knows someone ought to. And one or two rival managers we could think of. Also, I suspect the players see it as a badge of honour and it fosters a "world is against us" mentality which bolsters team spirit. The trick is to be a firebrand on the touchline and yet get the players to keep their tempers on the field. A manager in the stand is one thing, a player having an early bath is another. We heard enough complaint about passionless managers leaning on the dugout with their hands in their pockets. Let's try a mini-volcano for a change. We are only divided if we choose to be, aren't we?
It will be interesting to see if Adams will be able to work with Sheridans coaching staff......maybe to start with might be necessary.....but will he be able to get the results he wants with Wotton and Co......I hope it isn't part of his two year contract to accept the existing staff. I will be surprised if he will be able to work with Wotton for very long.......who will be seen as the old establishment that failed with Sheridan to get promotion.
That's why I like this site Notdistant we all have differing views on Argyle but respect each others opinion The world would be a dull place if we all thought the same way .... I am all for passion however how can a manager manage if he is constantly sent to the stands if that Ross County fan is correct we are in for one helleva bumpy ride !
the first one he could clout is the weasel from Stevenage I was not impressed at first with this as a choice. but we have to get in with it I just hope we don't get another influx of sh it players from north of the border. I am hoping it's not a backward step but time will tell!! I like all the different views Mrs jools
Well Jools....he might of been sent out of the dug-out and been suspended now and again.....but it didn't stop him winning two Scottish league Championships (Divs 1&2) plus SFA Cup Final losers plus PFA Scotland Manager of the year 2011/12.....I would settle for that happening at Home Park now and again.
Plym but that was Scottish Football.. Only a couple of teams up there.. League 2 is just as competitive as their Prem.. The only contacts he will have are in Scotland, so as i said i hope we don't end up with a load of useless Players again.. it happened here before so i hope we have learnt from that. Yes give him a chance as that was Brents choice.. not mine..
