Derby took Leeds apart yesterday and having won the last seven or so games, our game will be very interesting on Saturday. I appreciate we were fortunate to take the three points yesterday, but we would take it week in week out under current circumstances. We need to get a home win under our belts, this hopefully could kick us on to better times,if not,and we take another tanking, how long do you think the Ashton Gate faithfull will tolerate it. It seems Del was under immense pressure yesterday,as reports have suggested. It seems he was a relieved man come the end, this was a very important win for him. The important thing now is to try and get this elusive home win.sadly if the unthinkable happens and we take a tanking how much longer will the dreaded vote of confidence go on for. Let's hope it is the start of a climb up the table.
please log in to view this image McInnes' pride at City resilience Manager on dramatic away victory. Derek McInnes praised the resilience of his players in the face of a style of football the City boss described as âlike being back in the 80sâ at Hillsborough. Two Sam Baldock penalties and an Albert Adomah free kick two minutes from time sealed a priceless victory for the Robins against fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday, who have now lost seven successive games. The win was made even more satisfying by the way City responded to falling behind twice â the second time with just 11 minutes still to play. âIt was a performance full of character and exactly what was required to win a game,â McInnes told Bristol City Player. âWe played against a style of play completely alien to what we are used to. It was like being back in the 80s with the long throws and high balls coming into the box, but we picked a team accordingly to deal with that. âObviously the first goal was a free header, but in the main we dealt with it brilliantly.â âBoth penalties were without question the right decision, and then what a finish from Albert Adomah â heâs a top player and put in a top performance, but he was well backed up by his team-mates today. It was a proper team performance. âFor a ten minute period we passed up opportunity after opportunity â thatâs why Iâm not getting carried away, because thereâs still a lot to improve on and we shouldnât lose the second goal the way we did. We were attacking and then ten or twelve seconds later itâs in the back of our net. âBut the reaction to roll our sleeves up and get straight back at them â thatâs the most pleasing aspect of today.â Three points might easily have become one in the dying seconds, as referee Andre Marriner ruled out Gary Madineâs last-gasp strike to spark scenes of disbelief among the home ranks, but McInnes explained his version of events amidst much confusion in South Yorkshire. He added: âThere was a claim for handball against Richard Foster, but I think the Sheffield Wednesday centre-back grabbed the referee and thatâs why he whistled before the ballâs gone in the net, which heâs quite within his rights to do.â Good enough for me but hey,I'm just a fan...
We'll beat Derby of this I'm sure. I'm also very confident our first clean sheet will be kept. Coyrzzzzzzzzz
We CAN beat anyone in this division on any given day as we have already proven, the trick, however, is to be consistent in order to build confidence, and that we most certainly have not proven able to do. Barring injury then he has to start with Davies & Pearson as players always score against their former clubs, right?? I reckon a 3-1 win for City, that clean shet may have to wait a little longer yet...
Also Greg might be back Hopefully Fontaine will be dropped but I bet he takes Bates out the team to keep captain fantastic in the side
Sorry to be a pessimist but we will lose at derby. One lucky win against a team worse than us doesn't change anything for me. Course loved to be proved wrong though
I will be happy with a point from Derby.......as Lan says, we got lucky on the weekend, but god knows we need a change of fortune!
one things for sure if we stick with the same team against derby we will lose. And Mciness will do that i think
Absolutely correct on all fronts lads and we must not get carried away by what was essentially a lucky win. However if there ever was a possible turning point then surely that was it, and just look at the grin on Derek's face and say that he doesn't care. It will be nice to see Gregg back possibly for the next game and it's Fontaine that should be dropped by any definition. He is a major liability from what I have heard and if he plays I worry about the result. We can't stop shipping goals and until our defence is shored up we have little chance of getting more points. I am starting to believe that we have enough good players to weather the storm but playing them in the right formation continues to be the problem and, again that needs sorting. Derby will be a massive test of our mettle and only a win will satisfy a lot of people looking for blood, including myself, and only 3 points will take the pressure off a man who wants to achieve success. Look at him again - nice to see!
'one things for sure if we stick with the same team against derby we will lose. And Mciness will do that i think' I hope McInnes keeps the same team. We need to build consistency and stability, not the Hokey Cokey. Andre Marriner would be good as well.
It will be hard again to beat Derby but their away record this season is P10 W2 D2 L6. They are not as strong away from home as at Pride Park. So let's be a bit more upbeat about our chances.
I was impressed with Will Hughes for Derby. He showed that if you are good enough then it doesnt matter how old you are. I hope some of our youth players can come through shortly in the same way as he has for Derby. He will be somewhere else this time next year, thats for sure.
'Fontaine at LB and Bryan at LM is just wrong' - I know it's not right, but managing a team is different and sometimes there isn't any logic as to why a team succeeds. Continually chopping and changing just screws everything, not least a team's morale. It's one of the reasons why we're in this sh*t. In our situation you have to start somewhere - If you have the shirt and you win you keep it. You have, as a player in the team something to hold on to - a win. Winning and consistency breeds confidence - logic doesn't come into it. Until our next loss/poor performance the others will have to wait. If it aint broke don't fix it.
I'm going to be "that guy" and say that he is an absolute beast in FM2013. I just won promotion with Bristol City (at the expense of Cardiff Red Dragon Franchise FC, ha!) and he single-handedly got Derby into the second spot. He's top of my transfer wish list now! Then again, the year before we signed him Danny Haynes became a world-class player in FM.
I lost interest in those FM games when I won the prem and qualified City for the Champions League. Suddenly, I thought 'this is silly'!
