A story is going the rounds in various 'Dailies' that Derby have approached us to see if they can take Ross McCormack on loan with an option to sign if they gain promotion. Here's a link to one of the articles:

Not so weird from their point of view but utterly bizarre from ours if anyone in the Club management is even giving this a second thought. If they are, with 10 games left, they must be in complete denial that Fulham are in a relegation fight - as many within the Club were about this time last season, to our cost!!

For me Mc C is one of the few, if not the only one we have bought over the last couple of season
that have shown any quality, and if our manager had any idea that he should be an out and out
C/F his fee could have looked a real bargain,
If there should be approval from Khan tfor his release it would prove to me his insincerity in wanting to
    take us forward.

Bearing in mind we probably told McC when he signed that we would, at the very least, be expecting to be in the play offs this year, he would probably be justified in re-evaluating his options come May.

Derby need a striker of the quality of Rhodes or McCormack to sustain their promotion push. I think McC himself would see a loan as positive so might push for it, and it would be the right move for him should Derby get promoted, they would have the money to buy him.
The shame would be we've just got Smith back to partner him and for us it wouldn't be the ideal time, still fighting relegation, but could a Woodrow Smith partnership work, or even Dembele and Smith.

Kit told reporters today that he was "happy that Derby had shown an interest in Ross", adding "If there is speculation it gives players a bit of a boost, really - and I'm sure that's the case for Ross. It makes them feel wanted. Certainly, Ross is very wanted here. He's never mentioned it, and he's been the same in training and for games, and long may it continue."

He also said that McCormack would not be going out on loan and that he didn't "see him moving in the summer either".

Noted: "did not see" as opposed to "would not"

To be honest, I'm happy to ignore this (and the Leeds wind ups - oops, sorry Leeds, I know you're a bit sensitive to any mention of winding up) until such time as something concrete happens. How we do between now and May will probably be the main factor in determining whether or not Ross wants a move in the summer. If a Premier League side comes in for him, you couldn't blame him for wanting to move, but if we show signs of being more competitive next season, there's no reason for him to leave us for another Championship club.

We've heard a lot stories from Leeds fans about what a terrible character and a bad influence McCormack is, but we've not seen any sign of that on the pitch. There have been problems this season, goodness knows there have, but the only ones that have involved McCormack have been about Kit playing him out of position. Generally speaking he's played well wherever he's been asked to play, and (along with Christianson) is arguably our player of the season.
