Just seen that Derby are introducing an American style ticketing system designed to get more home fans in. Apparently they will sell first 6 months tickets cheaply, but subsequently prices will vary with demand and get dearer the nearer the game gets. Ticket price will be affected by nature of opposition, fan demand and, strangely, weather. I suppose bad weather will cause a reduction in ticket price. Interesting to see how that works out.
It's a good ticketing system in terms of fairness, but it's a whole load of hassle. Easiest option would be to have a team enticing enough to not need it
Apparently Derby want another 7000 fans at each home match. I think it could work if cheap tickets bring in the punters and then Derby provide them with good football to watch. Going to football matches is addictive once you start.
They seem to be quite innovative with ticketing at Derby, when we played them they had over 33,000 there. Obviously, the big boys were in town that day but they had also done a lot of offers and promotions leading up to the game. Good for Derby County, hope this works for them.
