We get to meet our old mate Corey Blackett (as Curbs calls him) very shortly after his departure - frankly my feeling is we should have stipulated he couldn't play against us. I'll be over for this one, and my daughters are making their first 8and probably last) ever appearance at the Valley, so exciting day for me and I hope Charlton given them something to enjoy. As for the fotball, last week was another match where we only played 45 minutes, so if that's going to be the story tomorrow, we badly need to keep Derby away from the goal during whichever half we don't turn up for. I'll gom Smudger style, for an unlikely 2-1 win, as we are due one, but it could be a long afternoon.
We do well under new managers, so I think we'll get something out of it. We know that you can keep CB-T quiet by doubling up on him, but our defence is capable of conceding from anywhere and everywhere. Lack of creativity is another problem, but Fleming seems to be a lucky manager, so I'll go for 2-2. Lapado and Kanu. I assume we were paid a few quid extra to let CB-T play against us, and if he scores there will be howls of justifiable rage.
Derby have been wobbling a bit lately, so they won't be complacent. They'll want to get back to winning ways as much as us, and they have the armament to do it. Will be surprised if we get a point.
Sorry to sound like a stuck record, but can only see a defeat for us. Derby have picked up 20 points out of a possible 30 in their last ten league games as opposed to us, who have picked up a miserable 4. Yes Four. Out of thirty. Depsite buying plenty of players in the window, our defence is still as week as piss and as porous as a sponge. Can see Derby scoring a few. And somehow we have come out of the window with a weaker attacking force than we had before it. Only SE7 could manage that. If Derby score early it could be carnage. If we can get to 60 minutes without conceding it will be a miracle but would at least give us a bit of hope of not doing too much damage to our goal difference. With some of the bottom clubs playing each other tomorrow, we could well end up 20th by the end of the day. Depressing. And we still haven’t got a new manager.
In another busy day for me I managed to squeeze in that I noticed we have won 1 in 14 league games. A training exercise for Derby tomorrow. I have put £1 on a home win @10/1
New manager bounce today then same when a permanent manager is appointed. We get that usually every 6 months, but this season we'll get it 4 times.
It’s fine. He’ll come on after 89 minutes. Sounds like we’re playing ok, but still down to 19th. Ok isn’t good enough in our situation.
Utter. Now is the time to bring him on. We need someone to be creative. Please don’t wait until 75 minutes plus. Please learn the lessons of the last 10 games. It’s not rocket science.
