Did anyone watch it ? I did and i just wish i hadnt. Where on earth did they dig those fans up from, both sides that is. But the underlying tone from the whole programme for me was. Mal Pope.....What an absolute tosspot.
I managed to see it through to the end. I thought it was a trailer for the new jax film. Might as well have called it the swansea story.
I watch it, looked like the BBC are hoping for some aggro so they can report it. Absolute dire programme.
More than a slight bias in the Jacks favour. Typical media never report anything about Cardiff unless bad.
Haven't seen it yet but given some of the comments I'd presume the build up on here is far more entertaining
All that was missing was Swansea favourite Max Boyce. And why the **** did it start with Gareth Edwards scoring a try????????
"Max Boyce" is from Glynneath. "Gareth Edwards" used to play for Cardiff RFC. "The miner's strike." Clearly the show was heavily biased towards Swansea.
I don't think it was heavily biased towards Swansea. Just thought it was a crap programme. Gareth Edwards wasn't on because he played for Cardiff RFC. For some reason BBC Wales had to get rugby into it.
The press want violence. This means that anything, anything at all, will get blown out of proportion. On old guy could trip over somebody going to the toilet and cut his head and it will be reported that he was thrown to the ground and stomped upon. We may as well be ready for it now.
Isaw the program and i Will agree that There seems to be a media agenda to make trouble in this game, we know if given half a chance to cause trouble people Will, the worry is that fans give media what they want, having a late kick off is another crazy idea designed to ignite aggression. The positve i did take from it was the mutual respect between borley and dineen, rivals but friends and it was Nice to hear borley speak about his admiration of how the swans have turned it around ,that guy is perhaps your huw jenkins in waiting . I thought most people spoke well apart from the "FAmous" twat for you guys and mal pope for us who i agree is a tool . For the genuine Cardiff fans i wish you well for the game, hope you lose but that is perfectly normal as its my team your playing against. The show was worth watching though and part of me kind of wishes the days would return to the time where the rivalry was purely good natured and people had no grudges to bare and would support and watch both teams. The flip side is that There would be no Cardiff city comedy classics thread to comment on though...
That's fair enough and I agree. Returning to the "old times" does have its' drawbacks though. There would probably be a thread instead of it over there asking for donations to help bail you out for a third time.
Most notable drawback would be Cardiff being the better team again Think I prefer things the way they are
Pity they didn't show more football clips from old derbies rather than most of the programme being devoted to tales of football violence, and a pathetic story of 20 young kids being forced into the mumbles sea when confronted with several hundred brave adult swansea chavs. Mal Pope; what a clown.
First of all, using iPhone and the thing jumped to report for swearing. Mods I duly apologise and whoever was reported, again I duly and fully apologise, this has happened several times since iOS7 was installed. On topic. The show was sensationalising the history during the eighties and nineties, paying less attention to friendlier times before and after. Whilst I agree our rivalry is the best and most fierce in the UK I also believe the BBC did both teams a bit of injustice with regards to how we both got here. It was probably produced by a rugby fan, who was jealous that the two major population centres of Wales have always preferred football and thus it has finally become the major sport of the nation despite all government action to intentionally hold it back for many decades (let's be honest, our schools are ordered to concentrate on Rugby by this idiotic notion that it is our National Sport, yet between us two alone we always outnumbered the Top 15 rugby clubs attendances). Also the late kick off is because it is the only Tier A game of the weekend. The Premier League and TV companies consider it a massive highlight of this years calendar. It's the only slot they could put it in and made sure it didn't fall on a Europe week so that it had all the attention, plus the game before was given a 13:00 time slot allowing for a full hour build up to kick off. Our derby is seen as a big date for Premier League's audience.
