Derby v Swansea Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Pride Park Date - 27 November 2024 Kick off - 8pm Following their ‘thrilling’ 3-4 home defeat to Championship leaders Leeds last Sunday, next up for Luke Williams Swansea squad is a tricky looking trip to Derby. On Sunday, substitute Wilfried Gnonto scored an injury-time winner to send Leeds United top of the Championship as they beat the Swans in a seven-goal thriller. Italy international Gnonto netted in the 91st minute moments after Swans substitute Florian Bianchini appeared to have rescued a draw for the hosts. The Swans, in their first game under a new ownership team, had led twice in the first half through Harry Darling and Wales striker Liam Cullen. But Manor Solomon's first two Leeds goals either side of an unfortunate Ben Cabango own goal had put the visitors 3-2 up after 73 minutes. The Whites go top for the first time this season on goal difference, while for the Swans it was a second successive injury-time defeat. The day before, a header by on-loan Swansea striker Jerry Yates was enough for Derby to pick up an away point at Preston in what was a dull Championship affair. Sam Greenwood opened the scoring for the hosts with a looping header but Derby responded just six minutes later as forward Yates found himself free to nod in an equaliser from a free-kick. Chances were few and far between from then on, the closest thing to a winner coming just before the final whistle when Derby substitute Marcus Harness flashed a shot just over the bar. A point apiece means Preston move up one place to 20th on 16 points, while Derby also climb to 14th on 20 points, seven outside the play-off places. The Swans have played the Rams on 48 previous occasions, winning 21, losing 18 and drawing 9. The last time that the teams met at Pride Park was in October 2021 when they drew 0-0 in a Championship match. As for tonight’s match, Derby will be without Jerry Yates who cannot play against his ‘owners’. I think it will be a 1-1 draw.
I think the Swans can win this easily if they play like they have in recent games bar giving away soft goals like they did on Sunday.
For the first time this season I feel like we can give anyone a game. I'm going for an away win, 0 - 2.
I mean, we scored 3 against Leeds without Robotnik. He's done nothing so far....... Edit: I know nothing.
I must be hearing things as I’m sure I just heard the commentator say that “Jerry Yates is Derby’s top scorer” !!
WTF?! I miss the first 15 minutes and we're two up?!! Edit: so amazed I typed it twice Edit2: my double post disappeared... i'm delirious now
