This is the first time I'm concerned.

The first thing I'd be doing is ditching the back five. It's clearly not making us more defensively secure, whilst at the same time costing us a player further forward.

I've always said that to make three CBs work, it is essential to have two quality wing-backs. They become the two most important players in the side. And yet we play effing James Bree.

Wing backs and mobile CMs.

We have neither.

Oh we also don’t have strikers or CBs. Ha

Yeah. It’s definitely happening.

Absolutely gutting tbh. On top of the 9-0’s as well.

Just embarrassing supporting these twats
I think that when I next see a couple of friends who support Brentford I’ll have to gently inform them that whilst they were most certainly the best team on the park, that the bar was so low that their own practice matches would be a better guide to their actual quality. Today’s ‘opponents’ were there only because they had nothing else better to do, a knock-up Park team at lunchtime comes to mind.

I think we can all accept that we're relegated. Whoever takes over, here are the records we need to avoid:

Fewest PL goals scored in a season: 20 - Derby County (2007/08) 20 - Sheffield United (2020/21)
Fewest PL goals scored at home in a season: 9 - Fulham (2020/21)
Fewest PL goals scored away in a season: 7 - Norwich City (2019/20)
Most PL goals conceded at home in a season: 57 - Sheffield United (2023/24)
Most PL goals conceded away in a season: 59 - Ipswich Town (1994/95 - 42 matches), 55 - Wigan Athletic (2009/10 - 38 matches)
Worst PL goal difference in a season: -69 - Derby County (2007/08) -69 - Sheffield United (2023/24)
Fewest PL clean sheets in a season: 1 - Sheffield United (2023/24)
Fewest PL points in a season: 11 - Derby County (2007/08)

Also, please can one of the "big" teams do us a favour and beat a team not called Southampton 10-0.

Thought I'd take a look at each of these records outside of the points one in comparison to where we're at currently.

Fewest PL goals scored in a season: 20

Currently on 12 from 20 matches which across a season would equal 22-ish so currently on track to be alright here if we score at a similar rate which shouldn't be too difficult.

Fewest PL goals scored at home in a season: 9

Already on 7 so can't see us only scoring once more in 9 games. Even only twice to equal seems unlikely.

Fewest PL goals scored away in a season: 7

Currently on 5 so same as the home one where we need 3 goals in 9 matches to avoid equalling. Should be doable I reckon with our fellow promoted sides still to visit

Most PL goals conceded at home in a season: 57

27 from 10 games. Tracks roughly to 52 so can see this one being a real possibility with Toon, City and Arsenal still to visit.

Most PL goals conceded away in a season: 59

17 from 10 games. Would take a huge collapse and a couple of humpings to break this one. Would need to average more than 3 conceded per game which doesn't seem too likely. A 9-0 might swing it though.

Worst PL goal difference in a season: 69

At -32 after 20 games so would have to get worse to beat this one. Should be okay but definitely a risk seeing as some players have already seemingly thrown the towel in.

Fewest PL clean sheets in a season: 1

We already have two so are alright here <diva>

One that wasn't included here was the most conceded which is 104, would have to be substantially worse than we have to break that so can't see it.

So despite how terrible we are we don't actually seem likely to take that many records which is more than a bit surprising. Says a lot about how poorly some of these other sides did.

Get 12 points and I'd even call it a semi-successful second half of the season at this point <laugh>

I think the next game is massive for this. Not necessarily for the result, but more the performance. And by that I don't even really mean the quality, I just mean that if we back the Brentford game up with another gutless performance then we're in deep, deep **** with the record. If we see some sort of reaction from the players that shows that they haven't completely thrown in the towel for the rest of the season then we might just scrape our way out of it still.

Next league game is United. I’ll be absolutely amazed if we concede less than 5

That's what I mean though. I don't necessarily mean the score line or quality we show. We know that our players are mostly pretty **** and we lack PL quality. As such if we face a good PL team on the wrong day they could thrash us even if our players were putting in 100%, that could easily happen at Man Utd. But we should be able to grind out enough points between now and the end of the season IF our players are still willing to work hard and the manager puts a sensible team out with sensible tactics.
What we should see against Man Utd is a reaction to the Brentford game in the effort they are putting in if nothing else. If there is no reaction to that, then there's no reason to think the players will suddenly start caring between now and the end of the season, and as such the crown for the worst ever PL team is in the bag. Another illustrious record to add to the books.

On track for 10. Doesn't make good reading with Forest and Newcastle next up.

Ipswich game gonna be massive for this.

When Derby set that record, I genuinely didn't think it would ever be broken. We're absolutely getting less points. No way are we going to pass it.
