After reading the âLocal Rivalryâ post it reminded me of a drinking game we play (not sure if this has already been asked, Sorry if it has). Who do you want to win in local derbies? And why? However stupid or pointless the reason maybe. It would be good to see if QPR has similar views, Iâll put a few below but it would be good to if people think of others. Rangers V Celtic â Rangers, They were called Rangers and played in blue. Arsenal V Spurs - Arsenal, The invisible team. Inter V AC - Inter, Used to play Italia manager growing up with some friends and that is who I played as and they play in blue. Barca V Real - Barca, Growing up they always seemed to be bigger, and I think Messi is all Class. Newcastle V Sunderland, Newcastle, one of my best friends is a Newcastle fan.
Rangers V Celtic – Celtic, as teams playing in hoops get my vote (complete hoops, that is, not just horizontal stripes in front like the plastics down the M4.) Arsenal V Spurs - Arsenal, who would be the premiership team I'd watch out of choice. Inter V AC - No real opinion, this is probably the one 'derby' that I don't really have a favourite. Barca V Real - Barca, mainly because Real have Ronaldo, and I like seeing him cry when they lose. Newcastle V Sunderland, Newcastle, for no real reason. I've just always preferred then. Maybe due to their team back in the 70s with Malcolm McDonald. Man United V Man City, City, because United have been taking advantage of lax refereeing and favourble decisions for years, and it's lovely to see them as a mid-table team. Liverpool V Everton, Liverpool, again, no real reason for this one - I just find myself rooting for them each time the fixture comes around.
Don't care about any of them except for the barce real one, I can't stand real. Hopefully a meteor will strike during the Glasgow one to do the world a favour. Some others Ipswich Norwich, I don't really have to answer that. Saints Pompey, Pompey even though I hate both.
Rangers v Celtic. Celtic, after spending a lot of time in Scotland I found that there were many less one eyed Celtic fans, where as the rangers fans seem far more intent on the whole religious and violence thing. Maybe I just bumped into the wrong type of rangers fans but it's how it came across to me. Spurs V Arsenal. Arsenal. I have never forgiven Spurs for the FA cup final. Inter V Ac. Couldn't give a monkeys. I've always disliked the way the Italians have approached the game of football, so I have equal distain for them both. Real V Barca. Just not bothered about this one either. If I had a gun to my head I'd say Barca. N'castle V S'land. Newcastle as I feel sorry for their supporters having Ashley to deal with.
Rangers V Celtic, Celtic of course. No surprise considering where I come from. Another reason, Rangers blatantly discriminated against people like me for 70 years and got away with it. Spurs V Arsenal I don't really care for either of them. Inter V AC Milan Inter. AC are owned by Berlusconi. Joke of a man. Barca V Real Forza Barca. Real Madrid play in all white for a reason and were the team of Franco. Nuff said. Newcastle V Sunderland Sunderland. I have always found Sunderland fans to be nice people. Liverpool V Everton Everton. Their fans are more genuine and have suffered a lot watching their local rivals win things over the years.
Bristol city v Bristol rovers - rovers - used to watch them when I lived in Bristol for a couple of years, plus they're the underdog, a very QPR emotion. Millwall v west ham - millwall - got a few millwall mates, undoubtedly they have their element of arseholes (as do any club), but the guys I know and the ones I've met through them are good as gold. Swansea v Cardiff - Swansea - I like the swans, but maybe it's because they didn't beat us in the playoff final and lob bricks at our coach as we were leaving. Good thread.
Rangers V Celtic – Celtic, the hoops reason I think. Although I'm not too sure why really? Arsenal V Spurs - Arsenal Definitely my PL team when we're not there. Love the way they play, love the commitment to youth, love that they stood by Wenger in the difficult years and it looks set to reap rewards, love the financial prudence. A very well run club, with 'real' supporters who mostly live in London. Inter V AC - AC Because of Maldini Jnr Barca V Real - Barca The way they play, and their team ethos. Not a bunch of galacticos! Newcastle V Sunderland, Don't care Don't particularly like either to be honest. Man United V Man City, City I hate United (probably more than Chelscum). It just bugs me how so many of their 'fans' have never been to games, and live in London. Liverpool V Everton, Don't care Quite like both clubs!
You haven't included Burnley v Blackburn. Apparently one of the biggest traditional derbies in World football. Seriously!
Rangers V Celtic Spurs V Arsenal Inter V AC Milan Barca V Real Newcastle V Sunderland Liverpool V Everton My winners in Bold all based on my subuteo collection
What about Wednesday and united. Or my favour growing up farnborough v aldershot. Then it would farnborough every time.
Rangers V Celtic, - Rangers because they play in Blue & White and are called Rangers Spurs V Arsenal - Arsenal, good team, great manager & great ground Inter V AC Milan Inter. AC dont really know why Barca V Real Madrid - Real, Like the kit, loved the Gallactico era, great history Newcastle V Sunderland - Newcastle. Spent quite a bit of time there with friends Liverpool V Everton - Liverpool - first ever team i watched play..against Chelsea funny enough Getting local Hayes v Yeading ( i know back then) always Yeading North Greenford v Hanwell town - Always North Greenford Old Actonians v Poly - Old A's - was there for 8 years Larkspur v Belmont Rovers - Larkspur- loved the kit (anyone remember these?) Pig & Whistle v Indian Gymkana - P&G......... EDIT Was trying to think of one for HIVE but they moved so many times its difficult. Any ideas ?
