I've often wondered what the general depth of feeling was between Swansea and Cardiff fans in respect to each others clubs. There is obviously a checkered history between the clubs, partly due to typical football rivalry, but also political and economic factors.

I thought it would be interesting to have a poll on a small number of scenario's to see how deep rooted the feelings are - and whether the general feeling was if it was a good thing being in the same division.

I will post on both Swansea and Cardiff boards - so please only update the poll for your respective club - be an interesting comparison! I will time limit the poll so it ends prior to the game next weekend.

My perspective is that it is good for welsh football to have both clubs in the Premier league. It puts Wales on the map; and hopefully leads to younsters coming through the respective academies and improving the national side. I prefer two welsh clubs to be performing well than seeing our English colleagues taking the glory. I would also love to see Wrexham and Newport start to climb back up the leagues!

Clearly as a Swans supporter - I would always want Swansea above Cardiff - but that goes without saying.

Apreciate this view is not held by everyone - so feel free to vote and add your comments......keep it civil though!

Sorry mate, but what sort of bloody poll is that? I've noticed you've put the opposite scenario as choices on the Jack's board, so what do do you think it will prove?

Best keep this sort of stuff to the banter threads - it'll do no good at all to try to gauge popular opinion on an open but obviously biased club forum.

Also, the choices are a bit extreme to say the least and wont encompass the majority of posters.

Up until 76-77 there was no real interest in or concern about swansea. The only time city ever played them was in the welsh cup. They were like Newport county, it was no problem what result they got as they were always going to be below city in the league. A little seaside football club was irrelevant.

The problem started when the then city manager rejected him coming to City as he feared for his future (he bizarrely had the say say so rather than the board given Andrew's obvious self interest) and took them into the old Div 1, when city were foundering and took them up through the divisions. The enmity grew when beforehand it had always been Bristol Rovers & City who were the rivals.

I would snap off your hands for a draw right now. I couldn't care if (and they will) be above bus in the league as our only aim is to stay in it and grow.

I picked the first because it was the only one that didn't end up with some childish wish for another club to either self-destruct of dissolve. If a long time in the future Cardiff finished 1st and Swansea 2nd I would ****ing love that!

EDIT: I noticed Sparkey said that the poll was on the Jacks board as well. Go and read those comments and see the difference between attitudes. Funny stuff.

Just read the comments on their board, they sound exactly the same as the morons on that tv programme about the upcoming derby the other night. Aussie still bumping his gums about being banned. That did make me smile. They really do sound like a bitter and twisted bunch of fools over there. Didnt comment on their side as i wouldnt lower myself, as we all know, you just cannot expect a decent answer, mainly because the vast majority of them arent decent people.

Isawron - agree mate. They really are something else eh? <laugh>

Temple - that parallel thread over there clearly defines the gulf between the posters on both boards.

The depth of feeling shown by many of them against anything Cardiff is just laughable. Does that make them better and more ardent club supporters?

Nah, just a bunch of insecure paranoiacs with short memories of their history and bollucks for brains.

On the other hand, it seems it's long memories for Aussie. I see he was frightened as a child by some Cardiff supporters - that explains it all then.....<laugh>

(Aussie - I know you can't post over here at the moment to reply, and for me that's a bit of a shame to be honest. I quite enjoy your rants about our owners etc etc, it makes the forum what it should be - but don't get so worked up when you're challenged you touchy sod!....<laugh>)

    I hope you're re-instated before long. <ok>

Haha you guys didn't get the worst of it! The supermods are prepared to sweep me away at any moment apparently... :)

His ban is currently on a time to whine ratio <laugh> So he might be back in time for the next derby

I'll probably consult with Taff and let him back on after this derby (result pending)

yes, very sad indeed, if any jacks over there are wondering why i was banned, as a few were on a thread i read, it was because when dilligaf was a mod i asked him to ban a member on our board in a private message. now that he's not a mod, he was threatening to plaster this information all over this board in an attempt to discredit me, to which i said ' go ahead **** stirrer', and i was banned for abusing a member.........<ok>

pathetic, childish behaviour indeed from him, as i'm sure many would agree........<ok>

As opposed to creating a topic on your own board seeking attention, over something that your own mind made up. So basically **** stirring.

So when you say pathetic, childish behaviour about Dilli, all that enters my mind is Pot, Kettle, Black.

Btw I thought my comments on the thread in question was tidy enough. :)

This thread isn't worth posting on, except to say it isn't worth posting on.
