I've often wondered what the general depth of feeling was between Swansea and Cardiff fans in respect to each others clubs. There is obviously a checkered history between the clubs, partly due to typical football rivalry, but also political and economic factors. I thought it would be interesting to have a poll on a small number of scenario's to see how deep rooted the feelings are - and whether the general feeling was if it was a good thing being in the same division. I will post on both Swansea and Cardiff boards - so please only update the poll for your respective club - be an interesting comparison! I will time limit the poll so it ends prior to the game next weekend. My perspective is that it is good for welsh football to have both clubs in the Premier league. It puts Wales on the map; and hopefully leads to younsters coming through the respective academies and improving the national side. I prefer two welsh clubs to be performing well than seeing our English colleagues taking the glory. I would also love to see Wrexham and Newport start to climb back up the leagues! Clearly as a Swans supporter - I would always want Swansea above Cardiff - but that goes without saying. Apreciate this view is not held by everyone - so feel free to vote and add your comments......keep it civil though!
poll you say? Think you may have missed something edit: ah wait, its there now lol but for me, I don't want Cardiff to go down, but I don't want them to finish above us, as long as they finish below us, I don't give 2 hoots Its just a bit of rivalry banter this week.
I've openly despised their horrible little club ever since the time I was walking down Picton Arcade on Derby day when I was a kid with my Dad and their morons were running riot through the town centre. I was terrified. I know logic dictates that you can't tar everyone with the same brush but I can't help it. In more recent times I tried being decent to that lot on the old 606 when I posted a video of Jay Emmanuel Thomas on their board just as a favour to them because most didn't know the guy they were signing. It was met with abuse and vitriol. As for the good of Welsh football - I don't see it. Have you seen our latest campaign? As bad as ever. Many of our best players have never played for either the Swans or Cardiff. They go wherever their talent takes them. We're a small country and having two Prem teams doesn't make one iota of difference imo. They're owned by a sleazy Asian speculator (he's not an 'investor' at all) who is power crazy and who will one day pull the plug in a fit of pique leaving them high and dry - and hopefully in the High Court as they are wound up. I'm also a tad biased because I've been banned from their board for absolutely nothing on the lead up to the big game. Those who are regulars here know this to be true. The ban doesn't bother me - the fact it was for nothing does. So **** 'em I say. Crash and burn. I'm sure many of them feel the same way about us and you know what? I couldn't give a fish's tit. Hope I'm clear.
I could not have put that better myself. It seems that there has been some sort of retribution for you, achieved by one of our resident nutcases (no names mentioned but I like his thread). I read why you were banned and it was ridicilous. I have never posted on their board and I never will because it is run by two egotistical maniacs and inhabited by pond life that's lower than the dirt on my shoes. As it goes that's just about the standard for your average Cardiff fan
That's cruel. I did laugh though at that Cardiff windbag being outed on here, how long was that kept a secret by Dilligaf and how the hell did he know that Swamp wanted a Cardiff poster banned from their board in the first place? Before my time time on here but I fully understand why they wouldn't be very happy, at least it was retribution for KJ being unfairly banned
February 6th 2011 in the Championship, that year we become premier league and its been killing them ever since!!
Cardiff died when the rebrand took place so the new lot can now fook off to the conference for all I care. apart from a few of my friends who are true Cardiff ,who I wish the best for, the rest of em deserve financial oblivion .
Like you, Norway, I have no problems with the genuine, decent Cardiff fans and wish them well. Financial oblivion, however, is way too good for the other lot.
Thanks for your support Valley But on the 'financial oblivion' point, NJ: I'm sure some of them really don't realise that Tan the Man is loaning them money. Maybe at preferential rates but a loan none the less. As a hard nosed businessman he will want a return, and don't forget what'll happen if they're "rude" to him. .
I think I read somewhere recently that now he is loaning them money interest free, he been fleecing them for 3ys .. The flip side of this is that the interest free loan was apparently all paid off !! something doesn't add up! they have been told they are debt free and the same time told the "loans" are now interest free" .. **** em ,hope they fold and go out of business.
Last season FC Københavns bitter rivals were almost relegated. They saved themselves in the last round, this was a bitter pill. Earlier last season they were hours away from pledging bankruptcy. I wouldn't have enjoyed that (I would have, briefly). Loosing a rival/enemy, is loosing some of your own identity aswell. I perfectly understand that when they sell out, they're already gone. But in all honesty wouldn't you miss their club, as rivals, if they vanished from the face of the earth? I mean who would be your rivals then? Any club with a history needs rivals to define itself!
I honestly don't think Swansea City is defined by its rivalry with those up the M4. I would miss the local derby as I always find it exciting but I'd find solace in the fact that we are in the best league in the world and gaining new fans every day. Our rise to the top is a fairytale for sure, and I really wouldn't give them a second thought if they disappeared. Not everyone in the Prem (or any other division for that matter) has a local rival playing in the same league. I'm sure Southampton fans aren't thinking about Pompey right now.
Too be honest, the Cardiff games is just another game. Their are more important things for me in the PL, so not bothered at all about them.
I'd prefer a more realistic scenario than the ones in the poll. How about Cardiff get relegated, we finish top half, win the europa league, then play in the super cup against the champions league winners in the only european game ever to be held at lego land? :-D
