It was inevitable that the press would make a link with us when Dempsey said that he would like a spell back in the Premier League during the MLS break. I suppose it's just possible with MAF gone and Shad Khan no doubt well aware of the commercial benefits. Of all the Jol quotes on the matter, this has to be the most choice; " But boss Jol said: âItâs unbelievable speculation, which is nice. I never talk about players, especially when they are not here.â
From what I've read, he wants to ensure he's on the 2014 WC team, thus he's considering a short-term loan arrangement (like Landon Donovan with Everton) to keep his game sharp and his name in the news. It might be a good idea for him because his goal-scoring has been horrid for Seattle. It took him nine games to score his first goal and his team's dropped in the standings ever since he joined them. A year ago I say he was a lock for a spot in the starting 11 of the USA WC team, but with Altidore and Donovan playing well, plus some good younger players coming up through the US ranks, he's not such a sure bet any longer. Given his poor form, it's hard to see any EPL team wanting him. He's probably better off taking the winter off, recharging his batteries and trying to attack the MLS afresh starting in the spring.
Failing to score is of course a problem, but i feel he could help to shore up the midfield. But coming to us, i dont think so.
Unsure about whether it would be of any benefit to us- when Dempsey had his best season we played around him - in this team of individuals I'm not sure he is the type of player to bring it all together. Dempsey plays in a position where we already have Kaca, Duff, Kasami, Ruiz, Taraabt and Dejegah as options.
'It washhh a tough matchhh, we of courshhhh loshhhht Dempshey and Moushhha Dembele 18 monchhhs ago who were ever shhhho good for ushhhh, so we are lacking a little bit up fronchhhh'
