I have to say how impressed I am with our new guy Dembele, he just look so strong but plays so effortlessly!

Have really good feeling going forward with him dictating our game as he still gelling with everyone

All good so far. If you can call it a criticism (not sure if it is yet) he's a quiet unassuming character from what I make out so far, and I wonder if he has the belief to demand the ball throughout a game and boss it, a la Modric...spit!! I think he has the talent...does he is the question? the right man-management could turn him into one helluva player, because he has a bit of everything imo.

    "Dem-pele", I like it.

Of course we've also acquired "The Sig".

    Good nicknames for the others?

Agree with what your saying, I think maybe the not bossing it part could be down to his role in the team, maybe he isnt playing with complete freedom as although Sandro is classed as a dm he like to bomb on forward so sometime Dembele has to sit in and cover so not get involved as much. Maybe once Scotty Parker is back it may free up Dembele in certain games to be more effective

He's had a couple of great performances and the rest have been good too. Definitely pleased with the start he's made, although I'd like to see him take control of a few more of our home games though.

£15mil is a bargain for a player of his talent, IMO. I'm just glad Levy paid the buyout fee without trying to haggle.

Dembele has impressed and looks the complete midfielder, but for me Vertonghen has been the most impressive so far..... he oozes class.

    Steadily impressive.
Nothing spectacular, but creeping contribution/importance to the team.

One thing I do like (as was continually stated by the commentators yesterday)
is that when he dribbles, the ball is always shielded on the far side of his body.
Any tackle other than Ledley-esque will result in an immediate foul on him.

Dembele has been excellent, and Dembele and Sandro together have been central to our recent success. I can't make up my mind whether I think Parker and Dembele will be even better. But I'd like to see Dembele get forward even more. (He has a goal and two assists already).

It's a tough choice to decide who the better summer signing of Verts or Dembele is. Both have stepped straight into the team and looked assured right from the off.

Spoke about this before how well he shields the ball, he's rarely dispossessed. Zidane was superb at this, and i think MD is similar to him in this respect, a big bloke with the balance of a 'low centre of gravity' player, able to get away from tight situations with the simplest drop of a shoulder and let strength do the rest. I love watching players like this.

Even though it is a little better and not a massive amount, I think as a DM, Sandro offers more going forward, seems to be more of a footballer and equally effective as Parker, as a destroyer..I think Parker will struggle to get back into the team but he will provide a tremendous reason for Sandro to play even better.

Ok this is about Dembele...I agree with Notso here and I have also felt that as impressed as I am, Dembele seems to play within himself a bit...it's evident that there is a beast in him somwhere.

Maybe this is because at Fulham surrounded with the players he was as a whole that gear 2 or 3 was always enough, but here at Spurs he will learn that you will have to step up to gear 4 or 5 eventually.

I recall the ball he played to Bale near the end yesterday, where Bale took the shot and I think it hit the post. After the little sliderule to get Bale in, Dembele just started walking expecting Bale to take it on and have a pop. If Dembele was totally settled I'm sure he would have raced in parallel to Bale shouting for the cut back and a much more open view of the goal for a shot...till he starts to command and demand he will be as Notso has stated.

AVB will sort it out no doubt there's pure talent there with Moussa.

Yes...... we are indeed, quite fortunate in the defensive midfeild position. Sandro has developed in to world class and in all probability will improve further., Whilst Parker, who is a consummate perfessional, plays every game, for us, as if his life depends on it.
A degree of rotation will be called for., where the class and characteristics of the opposition should dictate which one of the two will actually start on the day. They should never again be played in the same game together,. now the we have Dem-pele IMO.

Comparing and contrasting to the signings we have made in the not too dim and distant past (whom I have an oft-documented disdain for) I think that Dembele & Verts are top-drawer signings.

Lloris will prove himself good over the next two or three seasons.

Dempsey (even taking into account the winner against the red mancs) and Sigurdsson I'm still not sold on, one was a panic buy and the other opportunist IMHO

I noticed this, in the replay one camera angle was at pitch level and you see his legs just stop after the pass as you say. A Fabregas or a Lampard (as we knew them!) would have kept going. However, I can't recall where Sandro was in the precedings, if he was up with play going forward then you'd expect MD to stop, hold position and drop back, they do take turns pretty well atm.

Very true about Sandro's position. Dembele was just near the edge of the box. If Sandro was to be past him then he would be near the penalty spot...I'd presume he was further behind as we never see Sandro that far up...let alone with just a little of the game left. Your point is spot on though it's quite possibly true that he needed to check back.

I think that he's doing a very impressive job. Slightly different to the way that Modric did it, but often similarly understated.
Pairing him with Sandro has given us a very physically capable and powerful central midfield and I think it'll be more solid, after they've fully adjusted to playing together.
Having Huddlestone and Parker waiting in the wings to fill in is valuable, but to also be able to call upon Carroll and Livermore is a good sign for the future and our depth.
I hope that the latter duo get to play a good run of reserve games together, at the very least.

Belgium seems to have found a glut of talented players recently and I've been very pleased with the way that both of ours have started.
Comfortable on the ball, very positive and good to watch.
What's Poirot up to these days?

An interesting stat is that we have 2/3 leading PL tacklers from last year (Dembele #2, Parker #3). I wonder why we haven't signed #1 Tiote... Interestingly, Dempsey was has been one of the two leading tackling forwards the past two years--or something like that...
