It was announced Dembele will available for the FA cup game at Goodison, which is good news. And I wasn't happy to hear we'd be playing at Goodison, I think we have a decent chance of winning this game. Everton are not playing well: in their last seven games they've gotten nine points and just seven goals. Over that same period we've gotten 11 points and 14 goals, if memory serves.

But we also have one thing working in our favour: if the new Dembele/Ruiz/Dempsey-centric lineup fail to make an impact, we can change our game completely by bringing on Johnson, Baird and Duff.

Great news DR. And spot on regarding plan B...

Everton are not playing particularly great at the moment but we always make it a mess over there.

Just a thought, because I don't think it will happen.

Wonder if Jol would give Trotta a chance to start against Everton to see if he could continue his scoring run at a higher level.

Jol seems to be thinking of Trotta going back out on loan -

Good news about Dembele and as you say Superbri, the options. As I mentioned in another thread, we have never lost to Everton in the Cup so - COYW

It would be good to have Dembele back. Now that we are appear to be getting back to full strength and appear to be varying our approach according to the opposition maybe there's just a chance to correct our poor record at Goodison Park.

Read several contrasting reports about Trotta this week.
will he, or wont he, go out on loan again, if we keep him at the Cottage,
he should be on the bench, and given a try,if it is only for Jols famous 10 min.
Out on loan it has to be to a championship side, and not a struggling one

I would not bring Dembele back in - bench for me and start the team that finished against Newcastle. Dembele off the bench for me. I think the best i'm hoping for is a mid week replay at the Cottage under the lights - where i'd like revenge. If Saha ruins us again i'd be upset. Bigtime.

I watched Everton vs Blackburn replay on sky ... Everton did not look strong, and Saha seems to have lost his edge and pace. The best players on the pitch were Cahill and Donovan.

Dembele 'broke down in training' and is out of the game v Everton.

Sidwell has passed a fitness test.

Guess it will be Sidwell and Murphy in central midfield in a 4-4-2 then.

I do love Bairdinho, but Sidley edges it for me.

Bairdinho every time for me. I find Sidders too defensive.

Seriously? He's scored a few goals this season. I think he's more box-to-box.

I just don't think I could live without Bairdinho's punts from 25 yards.

It's a tough call. Bairdinho or Sidders? Both great fellas and very professional.

A close call, but Baird just edges it for me currently (only just) - the glue in midfield when required, with good vision defensively and sometimes in attack. However, Sidwell probably has the longer term potential. We're lucky aren't we. In a way it's what we've been looking for - MJ picking the team best suited according to the opposition.

A goal ala Stoke or Liverpool matches would be nice!
