Hurrah! He's signed. For £7mil a cracking signing! He is available for the Southampton game and hopefully we see him in a Chelsea shirt tomorrow:

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Demba Ba for an undisclosed fee.

The Senegal international moves to Stamford Bridge following an 18-month spell with Newcastle United, and has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Blues.

He will be eligible for selection for tomorrow's FA Cup match at Southampton, and the Capital One Cup semi-final against Swansea, but cannot play for us in the Europa League this season having appeared in the competition for Newcastle. He will wear the no. 29 shirt.

'It feels good to be here, I'm very happy and very proud,' Ba says.

'It was important for me, and for Newcastle, to get my future sorted and now we can move on. Now they have the whole month to buy someone and for me as well, the sooner the better. Now I am here I just need to get settled in.

'When the club who won the Champions League wants you, the decision is very easy. This club is massive and that's something that helped the decision a lot. It was not a hard one.'

Good signing. Powerful player, something you lot are missing since Drogba left.

Nowhere near the quality of Drogba but yes, he will be a good signing for Chelsea.

As he can't play in Europa I really think we should recall Lukaku to get experience in Europe.

    Welcome Demba.

I think Benitez will put out strong sides in the Europa and can see Torres perhaps playing these games and maybe Ba in the other cup comps.

No chance of Lukaku coming back IMO and a full season at West Brom will be better for his development than sitting on our bench.

Ba, great signing for the money. If he keeps up his toon form of the last 2 years he will be the signing of the window no doubt.

Such a good signing. There wont be any pressure on him because of the small fee we paid for him. We sold Sturridge for £12m and bought a better player in Demba Ba for only £7m. Made a £5m profit as well.

Good player, alot better than Torres IMO. Is he the world class striker that you require to compete for the title? Not IMO.

I still wouldn't rate him higher, than any of RVP, Rooney, Hernandez, Aguero, Tevez and Dzeko.

I still think you will struggle to compete with the top 2 for fire power. If you were to get Falcao then you would be right up there

This seems a very shrewd buy, am puzzled how we managed to make a profit on a player??? Surely there must be some mistake, this has never happened before.

you've signed 14 strikers since your owner has been at the club.

How many of them have actually been a success, and value for money? I'd say Drogba and possibly Anelka, that's about it. Even Drogba wasn't the finished article in his early days, being out scored by Lampard, hence why they forked out for Shevchenko. Granted though, Drogba did come good in the end

I'd be amazed if he was ever as good as Drogba. Drogba was a big powerful lump, but he was also a very talented footballer, his control and first touch was outstanding, which sometimes gets overlooked.

It's ashame he cheated as much as he did as he really was a class act. The cheating tarnished his reputation abit:biggrin:
