Can recall him after 28 days so the 7 games his loan covers could quickly turn into 5!

Excellent. Only thing is he has started 11 games this season for villa, so the chance of getting an extension must be slim.

I rate Delph & really hope he can bring some positives back on the pitch & in the dressing room which I am sure will need a lift but a months loan isnt the answer.

    Delph could feature against,

Some positive news for once. Important phrase on our website is, ....INITIAL loan period. This suggests plans are already in place to possibly extend it. Time will tell, but let's look positively on this until we know different.

I think we should sell Snodgrass and get Danny Rose on a month-long loan too. Long-term thinking like that is how our club will move forwards.

So we've signed an injured player for a month, which Bates will no doubt say is short term cover for Howson leaving, who's out for another month or so as it is...

I think Delph is firmly in McCleish's plans so dont think he will stay any longer. Stranger things have happened I suppose.

Haven't we just signed Danny Pugh? And Brown and Varynen in the summer?

So a one month loanee is going to be ahead of these 3 players in the team?

This isn't even logical. We let Bradley Johnson - a good player, with sell on potential - go because we didn't want to pay him a good wage, and then sign 3 players - with no sell on potential - and a loanee - for a month - to replace him. Would have been much, much, much cheaper to pay Johnson a good wage than pay 3 players a decent wage each and then a loanee. Also much better for the team.

So instead of having a valuable asset and a good player, SG and Bates decided they wanted 3 invaluable assets (one costing £500,000) and a loan player. This makes no sense. Strange decisions from the club once again.

Seems to me that we've taken 3 centremidfielders off our wage bill, adding 4 more on and making £1.5million. But with no assets left at the end. Poor, poor management.

In total. That's not to say the initial fee was anything more than 50k. The balance of that 500k (which was never officially declared as the fee by the way) might well be based on appearances, promotion, European qualification and England caps. I see the point you're making, but it's easy to quote that lazy 500k figure and make it look like Grayson's had lots of money to spend and spunked it all on Pugh.

It's no different than when people quote the Howson £2million. I quote both because they are the ones reported in the media.

My point wasn't about that though. It's that we got rid of Johnson and Kilkenny due to wage disputes but have got in 3 players and a loanee, with the wage outlay higher but the quality lower.

If Howson was going anyway then I think that 2 million in the kitty & Delph is good business.

But like most fans its the "IF" that smells of..........

Im pretty sure he's not insighting anything there! A move to sell Howson was bloody stupid by Bates...that much is documented fact. Signing Delph on a 1 month deal is clearly Bates' way of thinking the Leeds fans will stop their protests...he's undermining the fans incredibly here.

Im pretty sure thats what ACKJ is getting at

I dont think so, Howson is worth more than that and will only get better. He is club captain as well, even if the money was reinvested in the team, im still not happy with that.

We now need to buy someone like butterfield or better to get back on track as well as a decent CB (just seen leicester have bid for Morgan, thats the type we need) and a RB, a striker would be nice as well.

If we sold Ross for 2m to Wigan and brought in delph and the money was reinvested then thats great business
