Earlier in the week, Delia stated that they didn't sack Hughton in January because there was no one else available at the time. Mmm, Delia, honey - the person you have just appointed was available. I sense the Board really don't have a very high opinion of the intelligence of the fans.
Situation is very different now VC. I don't think Neeyul would have been a serious option then and don't suppose he was first choice over the past 2 weeks. For whatever reason, others have been disregarded and the board have backed him. I'm sad to hear the vitriol directed at the board (on other threads). It's understandable to be underwhelmed but the abuse that's been directed at Delia and Michael in the past few hours especially is shameful. Good luck to Adams, i'm 100% behind him and looking forward to hearing more about plans and preparation for a much more positive season than last.
I won't abuse Delia and Michael because the club might well not exist now without them. However, I think it's fair to say that the Board have not covered themselves with glory over the past twelve months.
I'll repeat something I said on another thread and risk being wrong in two places! Without a UEFA Pro licence, NA couldn't have managed a PL club for more than 12 weeks. If they had wanted to give him the job they couldn't have done so before the end of February. That said, I don't believe they would have given it to him in January anyway. I don't believe they expected to give it to him last week.
Agreed. Somehow they seem to have backed themselves into a corner. It is really hard to see anything other than gross incompetence at work here.
Let's face it, we've got what probably was the only option. Lennon probably wants to manage in the PL and so might see if the Baggies or Saints come knocking (assuming Ponch goes to the Spuds), they probably didn't like Zola, Malky wanted too much and then heard Celtic was free and Mickey Mouse wouldn't take the pay cut. Grim but probably how it all panned out.
