Deleting a new thread.

Dear mods,

Why is it not possible for the author of a thread to be able to remove it if s/he realises s/he has made a stupid mistake like including it on GC?

If my memory serves me right this was facility available on the old 606 site.

That is if the mods hadn't pulled it first as as usually the case with most of my postings but I was full of angst in those days. Now I just love everybody.

Rightly or wrongly, the ability to delete a thread is limited to the mods of the board on which it is posted and, in the case of multi-board threads, the mods of the initial board. If you have posted a thread on GC and wish to get rid, then send a PM to Syd

Dear St Goodness.........We used to have that facility on here but it turned out to be a nightmare for the server is my understanding. You do have a facility on here which was not on the old 606 which in my view is better and that is of course the Edit button. It is my understanding if you have put it onto the GC by mistake you can take it off again by going into this edit and advanced I think it is so I'm told anyway. Failing that contact us and we can help.....so I.m told. Haven't tried to do it yet but there is a first time for every thing......... Once you had posted on the old 606 I do not think we had the facility to remove it did we?

Yep, any mod can remove GC from a thread by editing the original post and then going into advanced settings down the bottom of the editing page. I removed a thread from GC last night.

I believe this can also be done as the author, however there's no way of me being able to test this!! (As I wont know if the option to do so is available to me because I'm the author, or because I'm a mod).
