EX-DERBY County and Stoke City star Rory Delap turned out for Burton Albion in their first pre-season friendly tonight (Tuesday, July 10).

The 37-year-old Derby-based defender played 45 minutes in the 1-0 defeat at Ilkeston.

He will continue training with the Brewers for the rest of the week with a view to potentially signing for Albion.

He said: “I’ve known Gary (Rowett) for years and he gave me a ring to come down and look at things.

“Burton would be brilliant, but it’s got to be right for the club and me.

“I’ve had a few offers but none really viable thinking about my family.”

 

Good luck to him, he served us well and was probably shackled as much by TP as any other player was.

Best of luck to him. I think it's a shame players like Delap and Sidibie weren't let go a couple of years ago, could have had a bit of a send off, and given there all for someone else for a bit longer.
