SSN understand Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe would turn down a move to Newcastle if given the option.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a £10m transfer to the Magpies, who are still looking to replace Andy Carroll, who moved to Liverpool in January.

I think we should put in for him

Although I don't particularly like him-a nasty piece of work IMO-he could do a great job up front and help develope Wickham and Ji.

It's great that he wouldn't want to join Ashley's mob.

Awful bloke maybe but a damned good striker.

We all thought Bent was a good bloke but he just turned out to be a complete c**t, so does that really matter?

I think Defoe would be 'the' signing of our summer and get Richardson out left instead of buying you know who?

Fans on the Spurs board still rate him highly. 10 to 15 league goals given the extra time he'd have hopefully starting rather than off the bench added to our new the mid-field & I think we'd knock off a few more wins with ease this season.

I can't believe NUFC have stepped aside yet again. They'll end up in Wallsend if they step aside any more.

Do we have any money - I'd sooner have him than Piquonne or DJ Campbell
