He’s an absolute diamond of a bloke Defoe isn’t he.

He will get involved with anything to help folk, out his hand in his pocket, the way he was with that lad was genuinely heart warming, and seen the other week he hoyed thousands into Wigan to try and help them out.

And to think we kinda thought he was a **** for breaking Gordon’s arm. For all it wasn’t a long stint one of my favourite lads we’ve had at the club as a footballer and a top, top fella.

I hated him before he signed for us because of what he did to Craig Gordon (very poor challenge)

now..l I’d have his babies ten times over!! Love the bloke. As you say, diamond of a player and up there with Quinn and Phillips among my favourites

I never liked Defoe because what happened with Defoe and Gordon, as I wasn't sure if it was deliberate or not, but we got to see that he is a good person when he played for us, and I just can't imagine that he would do anything bad to a fellow professional on purpose that could end their career.

The sight of him actually in tears after scoring that winner against the Mags tells you how much he cared for the club and the fans.

Defoe was class for us, both on and off the pitch. Easily one of the best signings we made while in the Prem.
