Haven't been back long from a very enjoyable 7th Birthday party of one of my grandsons in a local church hall.......lots of games to play .....followed by lots of food, a great time enjoyed by everyone. Then I turn this on to find how Argyle got on...........I now feel like a kamikaze pilot shot down in the pacific heading for a watery grave. Only 1-0 and a penalty to boot..........Ok I can just about cope with that.........but then I make the mistake of checking the Argyle websites........nothing on here........PASOTI & ATD are all full of total gloom and doom........Brent out now,......Directors out now.........Fletcher must go.....everyones useless etc etc. Worryingly in the bottom two again......teams above use with games in hand.......and they are picking up far to many points......creating the start of a gap that looks very ominous for us to reverse. It needs something drastic to happen.......replacing Fletcher might be now too late. The only way out of this is to START WINNING HOME GAMES every time......NO MORE DRAWS at home, if we are still in this predicament when Cheltenham come here in May we are DOOMED. This is the worst season in 90 years of football league history for PAFC.........the Fletcher trust by Brent and Co was always a stupid experiment...........and you don't experiment when your Football League existence is on the line.
It doesn't look good does it? The difference this season is that we really should be able to hold our own in this league with the players we have, that wasn't the case when we were playing championship football after the exodus of our best players. Last season in L1 we failed to stay up because of the 10 point deduction so I really don't understand why we can't seem to keep up this season. I can't put my finger on what the problem is - ok I know we aren't winning at home but WHY? Certainly Fletcher is a rookie manager but really is he that bad? I don't think he is! The players want to win for us, if you read some of their tweets you would know that they are as devestated as we are when we lose matches. You can't blame the fans either so quite what the problem is I do not know! Sadly I think we are as good as down!
Players writing tweets full of angst and agony is about as worthwhile as an MP being sympathetic to the plight of the needy. If I was a player I could write any old twaddle and there would be those that would believe it. I reckon they care a bit and probably some more than others. Wotton for example and yes, Fletcher and Larrieu because there continuance in football management will or might depend of what happens next. But, they don't care as much as a lot of greens do who have had to stand by and watch their club hit the skids and head for the crash. I more than care and so do many others who are powerless to do anything at all to stop it happening. I'm not talking about the likes of our old adversary Mr Surfer who jumped on the bandwagon when things were going well and jumped off as soon as they were not except to tell everyone how right he was to see it all. I'm talking about real Argyle fans who have done their supporting through the proverbial thick and thin for years and the youngsters who were only just starting out. I simply cannot believe how far we have fallen and that I may yet have to contemplate life in this City without a league football team. Never before in my lifetime has this been almost certain. It's gut wrenching. I was looking at the teams results in the BSP today and could not help noticing the number of ex league sides in it. Almost half that league is made up of them and some of them have been there for quite a while. What a thought to have to take in.
Mrs LaLa............on paper the players should be good enough...........on paper Fletcher and his coaching staff are not.......and more importantly during the match they are not.
Good Morning Plymborn you can't argue with anything you have said above, and what I don't understand is that Brent is a very astute business man and throughout the rumblings in the boardroom still supports Fletcher. I personally think its because the events of the past two seasons are still having an effect on our club today. Carol Rowntree who has worked for the club for many years was recently paid off because the club couldnt afford her salary ..... so I think its a case of, if you pay peanuts .......
Ok probably too late to appoint a new manager now, if a decision was to be made it should have been several wks ago at least.....Don't give up now for God's sake, let this try to be a website where the team can get some encouragement...if the worst comes to the worst, so be it but the team knows now it's in their own hands. MAY GOD HELP US!
God knows bedoboy I have tried to be positive even when my head has been telling me to give it up as a bad job. It just becomes harder and harder to see a way out even though I would probably bite somebody else's arse if they relegated us before the singer struck up. I am hopeful rather than confident and I won't give up that hope despite feeling pretty gloomy right now.
