One matter that came out of our pre-Christmas discussions was how do we all define success? Some of us regard survival as success, others clearly demand more. To get a general consensus on this Iâm putting up three polls, for this season, for two seasons time and five seasons hence to see where we see the boundaries of success are set. So what do we regard as a successful season for 2013/14?
Survival would still be the main aim. It takes a few years to start to get established in this league, but eventually we must look for a cup run
being the eternal optimist, Ive gone for a cup run (assuming this means we stay in for at least one round) and a 12 - 16th finish
12th to 16th for me and I'd like a cup run but premier league survival is our main objective and will be for a couple of years.
No relegation fears at any point of the season, 2 young homegrown players regularly appearing in the first team, home wins against 3 of the top 6.
Not trying to be smart mate.....but I find it impossible to give an answer when we simply don't know what our circumstances will be in the future.
But from where we are now, and from what you saw today, what do you think would be a success for the 2013/14 season? Promotion from the Championship is not a valid option!
What manager will we have? What players will we have? What owners will we have? From what I saw today....we could be in league 1!!
Roller asked us to define what success was in our terms - not predict the future. If we are back in the championship or below, which is of course a possibility, that certainly would not be success in my view! For me building a proper Academy very soon (now would be good) is fundamental, and getting a new stadium pretty close to that.
