I was just reading One to watch: Conor Coady, and read that experts predict he'll end up at CB. This sort of worries me, as we're not exactly short of CBs at the moment, so I thought I'd present all of our youth CBs.

We've all seen how well he's done at RB since coming up from the Reserves this season, and has even overtaken £17.5m Glen Johnson at the RB spot. Many people want him to stay there, despite the emergence of Flanagan since Kelly's injury. Although, as many people know, he is naturally a CB.

The problem is that if he is put at CB, then Skrtel, Carragher and Agger are all also vying for his position as well as those I will mention later on. Not to mention that what we've seen of him so far this season, he is very good at getting forward and defending - as a CB he would have to do less getting forward which would be a loss for us.

Another one with experience this season, with plenty more behind him that he gathered at Rangers where he played regularly. Although, he's only been played at LB this season which has reduced his chances of getting further into the first team as he hasn't looked too impressive there. He was bought as a promising youngster from Rangers by Rafa and it seems that he does have certain promising attributes.

Personally I'd like to see him get some game time alongside Carra or Soto either in the League or in the cups, to see exactly what he's made of in defence. He played alongside a very experienced CB in David Weir at Rangers and I think he could learn even more playing alongside Carra.

Over the past year he's had 2 loan spells at 2 different Championship clubs, impressing immensely at both of them. He picked up an injury before Christmas which sparked a row between Hodgson and Hull as he said they failed to treat him properly. After he recovered he went on to a second successful loan spell at Derby County, where he became a regular starter.

He has been likened to Hyypia as he is 6ft 3, he's a very promising CB that I would like see make an impact this coming season in cups. Hopefully we'll see more of him in the future, as I think we have been lacking a Hyypia-esque player for a while.

Definitely one to watch, he's a very strong player in the Reserves and is another player that was picked out for a "One to Watch" article. He's been described as a "Man among boys" in the reserves and in the past few years has been a very important part of the Reserve team.

My only issue is whether he would indeed fit in, in the premier league. He excels because of his strength in the reserves - but is that his only attribute? If so, surely he'd be up against a tougher test with the forwards in the premier league. Only time will tell whether he will be able to cope with them and stand out.

One of the most promising youngsters at the club, currently he plays Centre mid, but as explained further up he is touted to be a future CB. From what I've seen, I think he plays better in midfield and with his passing could be a future Holding mid for us. He is a big part of both the England U17 team and our Reserves team.

He supposedly has great leadership skills, making him a capable replacement for Gerrard on the pitch. Personally I'd like to see him get some runs out in the first team in midfield, so we can all see exactly what he's made of when playing with the big boys.

Who would you like to see become our future CB pairing?

Great article <ok>. I'm embarrassed to say I've really not seen many of these lads play. I've seen Coady and he's definately got a future and was a bit dissappointed with Wilson this season. He was deemed a hot prospect when we got him from the SPL and haven't seen that spark yet like we have with Kelly. Which brings me on to Kelly, Like you say he's naturally a centre back but he's great at RB too in attack. Some of the runs he made were amazing. Remember against Everton when he skipped around Baines twice. So quick.

    Excellent article.

Like you have said, i'd expect Kelly to become a CB in the years to come even though he has done well in the RB slot. Regarding Danny Wilson, i'd expect him to given some games in the F.A Cup and the Carling Cup. We could all then see if he has the qualities to succeed at Liverpool. Putting him alongside one of our more experienced centre backs to help him through the more difficult games would be a good idea. Daniel Ayala... I'm going to be honest now. I haven't seen much of him play at all. I've seen the odd bit on the Football League show when he was at Derby but apart from that I haven't seen very much of him. He has been given a lot of good reviews so i'll have to reserve judgement on him till I have seen him play a few games.

I haven't seen much of Andre Wisdom so again i'll have to reserve judgement until I see some games when he's been playing. Onto Conor Coady, and i'd prefer to see him stay at centre midfield. He has been playing in centre mid and I wouldn't like to see him put into CB when we have quite a few centre backs already. <ok>

I don't think Conor Coady is a centre-back or will ever be a centre back. However what I've heard that if any player is going to be heir to the Gerrard throne...its this lad. This lad is a born leader.Andre Wisdom is definitely one to watch,he's captain of the reserves and even when he was 16,he was enormous. He was a ''man child''.I know that the german lad Stephen Sama is huge, but this lad has more about him.Danny Wilson,He could be a decent deputy for Agger, but he needs a bit of work.I don't see much hope for Ayala to be honest,he's going to lose out and be moved on.

He has been played as a CB a few times, and "experts" have tipped him to be a future CB, it seems that he's capable at CM and CB, but usually plays a HM role.

Coady oozes captaincy. I'm not sure why the experts think he'll end up at CB when, as Fairclough says, he's an all-rounder, not a specialist.

It was the ''Bionic Carrot'' aka David Fairclough that said before that Coady is definitely captain material and if anyone is going to be heir to the Gerrard throne its him.

Some wonderful prsopects. I think Soto will be sold no matter what. Then it is down to whether we get a replacement or Wilson gets given games at CB. He is definately ready for a few games, and should be played alongside Carra in carling/FA cup games depending on opposition.

Kelly had been outstanding at RB, and think he should remain there for now. His pace could become a very useful asset at CB though if Flannigan makes the step up sooner.

Given Ayala's performances in the Championship last season I think we should do all we can to loan him out to a Premier League Club. Think he could be ideal for Swansea, and would give him some valuable experience of top division games.

Coady should be used as CM in my opinion. This list proves we have so many options at CB, and i'd hate for Coady to be used at CB and harm the development of the other players, when he plays regularly at CM.

In a couple of seasons our back line could be nearly all homegrown and young.

    Kelly, Flannigan
    Wilson, Wisdom
    Jones/Dann, Ayala
    Robinson, Johnson/Baines?

Future line up of Flanagan Kelly Agger Robinson is the one I would choose once Carra has hung up his boots.

Coady would make a good Defensive midfielder in front of that back 4 but with a certain freedom to get forward at the right times.

    I'm really unsure about Wilson.
Ayala looks a good prospect and i'm sure he will be part of our defensive line up.

TBH i dont think flanno will make it :( and coady would be best in defensive mid, all his best attributes wouldnt be wasted there (great passer, crunching tackle and has a rocket of a shot) out of the current crop of youngsters these i think could be regular features in future starting 11's:

    -------------- ---------------
    Kelly---Wisdom---Wilson---Robinson
    ---------Coady---Shelvey-------
    Sterling---------------- ----
    ---------Morgan--- -------------

I think with guidance from stevie, coady and shelvey can become 2 of the countries finest midfielders
Coady is a born leader and will be our captain someday (i feel our next will be lucas) while jonjo in my eyes is practically the same mould as gerrard, he is a box to box midfielder who with time will learn when to play these 'hollywood' balls he attempts quite often

These are just my predictions, All i know for certain is the future is bright for LFC

personally i dont think ayala will make it, i remember watching him in the youth cup final vs arsenal, and him and kennedy who was released were ripped to pieces by the pacey strikers, ayala lacks pace, and if he was getting ripped to pieces at u18 level, i fear for him, he should be loaned out to a prem team to see if he will cut it
