I don't go to see the Hornets as much as I would like these days but I have managed both Coventry City last week and Hull City today since the turn of the year.

There were two things that stuck me about the two performances that I thought I would bring up.

Firstly was our luck in front of goal, I know that turns and turns again, so Norwich better watch out.

The other thing is out defence and there are a number of facets to this. Martin Taylor played his socks of in both games and sdoes appear to be the rock that is built on. Lloyd is Lloyd, one minute sublime and the next, well.... after that there is Adrian Marriappa who tries hard and will occasionally produce a howler, then there are the youngsters who appear and disappear Lee Hodson, Adam Thompson to name but two.

What really concerns me is the number of goals we are conceeding as a result of Scott Loach either not commanding his areas ( both six ayard and penalty) or dropping the ball. There has been comment before about goals lost because of these failings of his and I did attend a game a while ago when he played a blinder but Coventry were denied two goals as a result of of a foul on Scott where he dropped the ball and from an offide decision going his way and Hull had two wonderful opportunities because of his failings , not counting the stupidity of the first goal today where the ball should have been dealt with by Lloyd Doyley before the winner stole it from him and put in a cross which should have been Scott's.

With Alex Cahmberlain as goalkeeping coach to help something needs to be done and done quickly, unless we can get some good money from Harry Rdknapp for Sctt in the summer.

I would ask Malky to let Rene Gilmartin have a game or two. Rene might be a good buy, he may not, until he gets a few games - and not against "little" teams in the cup we'll never know.

Zen , Now the season is effectively over ,I think we should start the pre season now,ie bring in a load more kids ,and give them a run ,like you say Give Rene 3 or 4 games on the spin! Unless we can unearth a few rough diamonds at once ,I fear for us next season and the main reason behind that is Mr B who I believe is going to sell anybody who he gets an offer on! MM will get pissed off with this (and rightly so) and will move on! The 6 games grace we have now should be spent on some serious re building!

Nothing would give me more pleasure than to be proved 100% wrong:(

I don't agree totally with that. We have by any stretch of the imagination had a good season - we should not ruin that now by ignoring the pints left for the taking and blooding kids wholesale. It is important for the morale of the side that we finish the season reasonably respectfully otherwise we will start next season as we did this - favourites for the drop - and that sort of pressure you don't need every season.

Well, Leeds lost too so we're still 8 points off.

I really don't expect it...had we won at least one of the last three games I'd be optimistic but I'll still say that it's very mathematically possible...Watford are pretty streaky so you never know.

If Leeds continue to lose and the other chasing teams fall off the chase then we could beat Leeds next Saturday and be in with a shot......just got to beat Norwich away along the way :(

I've been optimistic about promotion for a long while...alas I'm now being realistic, our chance has now gone. Scott has been a liability for the majority of season,he makes great saves then gets basics wrong...yesterday he made the mother of all mistakes..I

Welcome vicarage - yep - Scott has not progressed as we would have liked. By the way on here if your post goes wrong you can "edit post" and save to correct it - although with no 3 minute rule it makes little difference anyway

I agree Scott has not progressed - one thing he needs to get sorted is his communication. He is far to quiet. I popped along to see the reserves angainst Ipswich and I could not believe how vocal the Ipswich keeper was - none of their defence had any problem knowing what he had in mind! Even Gilmartin was a lot more communicative than Scott.
