Lancs Never heard of the saying, defend from the front? I actually think this could be a good signing, a bit of Scottish steel and on the cheap!! For me it was a no brainer!! I am hoping/praying that we do sign at least 1 CB and RB and am waiting to see what happens. If Jewell fails to get in the necessary players then i think people are well within their rights to call for his head and it would be an absolute disgrace to not get in some more defenders but before i blow my top i am waiting 'til 11pm Tuesday night!!
Agree Spanish, it looks at least that he is going for the right type of player which would be quite encouraging for the future, unfortunately atm its about there here and now. Can't complain about signing a midfielder yes we are more desperate for CB's but we need to improve in every area, so should we wait to sign a CB before we can strengthen anywhere else and then miss out on other targets?
Spot on Spanish, fantastic post. Lancs - we're obviously short of defenders, and I hope to god we sign some ! HOWEVER - our midfield offers the defence next to NO support at the best of times. This guy should really help regards a defensive shield. He's not a has-been, he's not 35, he's 27 and signed for a bargain price. Lets be happy and see what else happens by Tuesday. Its a step in the right direction!
We've got Hyam there who is a cut above the rest of the side and no doubt will be dropped again. Sheer lunacy.
This guy is not a defensive midfielder he is an attacking midfielder or a striker. But have to agree hamps it will be a shame if either Hyam or Drury are dropped as both have played very well. I can understand sometimes why Jewell drops players sometimes but I feel that Drury has been hard done by so far in his time at Ipswich.
We need someone to replace Andrews goal output from Midfield because lets face it we cant rely on Chopra getting many!
I feel Drury would be better out wide personally, so I'm all for the signing..... Unsure on Jewell's thoughts on Carson.......
You can't please everyone all the time and some you can't please at all. Looks a decent signing IMO i think the Portsmouth duo will be in soon, and it appears the D.Collins is going elsewhere which makes me think we are close to getting a perm solution.
