For all the possession football talked about and attacking game, we forgot to learn defending. Need to take a leaf out of Stoke and Chelseas book.

Lots of views, no replys. Wasn't trying to start an end of days thread, just thought in the first half we seemed far too open. I was disappointed in the lack of rushing to get the ball back and how we let West brom walk through us at times.

No, I agree. Lots of talk and we saw it against pre season teams, the Barca: 3 players rushing high up the pitch. Not evident today but the Premier league has fitter stronger, faster players.

We need to be very fit with Huge stamina to adopt it in our league.

    There you go! Response!!!:D

We pressed high-up the field but at the back we looked vulnerable. Agger looked less than match-fit, Skrtel seemed harrassed and Lucas was well off the pace.

This was the most disappointing part of today. Last year the one part of our game that was good was the defending.

New tactics that dont suit the players you have. I know Rodgers likes his Spanish style tactics, but if you dont have the players (in this case defenders) to do it, it's not going to work.
I've never seen anything in Skrtels play that would suggest he is a ball playing CB that is comfortable on the ball.

Perhaps we need an Agger/Coates partnership and just have to bear with Coates until he gets up to speed with the prem. He can certainly fit the bill as a "ball playing centre back"
