What with Dawson and perhaps another CD coming in, I would not be surprised to see Ferdinand and Hill being pushed out of the starting line up. Anton to me looks slow and not as athletic as he should be at this level. With Boswinga now in the fold, we are looking at a completely new defensive line from last season. Be interesting to see how solid our defensive line becomes. We can only hope that with the relative decent quality coming in, MH has the coaching ability to form a consistent tight defence !
not sure it could get much worse!. Dawson ,Bosingwa and Traore straight in please!. Hope we get Mbie in too,as are midfield is crying out for a strong DM.
The defensive line is one thing, but a big part of the problem - last season and on Saturday - is the gap between the midfield and the defence. When attacking the defensive line comes up, but there is still a game as the midfield goes further forward. When the ball is lost the opposition have runners moving into that space. The midfield don't track back quickly enough (if at all) and the defence is faced with players coming at them who have had that extra space, the extra moment on the ball, to get it under control, compose themselves and pass or make a run. Add to that a lack of pace in the defence and any fast running striker or decent through ball will undo the defence every time.
