I stayed off the forum yesterday cos it was all getting a bit mad. Zog and taylor aren,t coming, i would have liked zog back, but didn't really see taylor play that much, so not sure about him, so time to move on.... the board seemed split yesterday between people being very angry and people prepared to wait and see what happens. the 35m has been done to death and pardew has stated money is there for another striker and enriques contract.Hopefully smith, xisco and other fringe players get offloaded aswell. BUT, enrique will be gone as ashley will not let him leave for nowt next season and will get rid of him now for a transfer fee, but more of a worry is pardews comments about chelsea bidding 10m for tiote and MA inability to say no to any bid for our players. surely we dont need to sell players like tiote, at the heart of the team. if we got 20m for enrique and tiote what would we do with it???? on the transfer window itself, can we not have all our deals done before 13th aug when the season kicks off, to allow any additional new signings to bed in a bit, instead of people going on about we,ve got 6 weeks left ... i know we always flap on the last day but by that stage we would have already played 3 league games. get it sorted early, switch of the phones and fax's on deadline day. peoples expectations for the season will be raised or lowered by what new additions are made, or more importantly now who stays.
Letting the heart of the team go would be a case of penny wise and pound foolish. Just think of the money we'd lose if we were relegated because of letting key players go. Much more than we'd get for the outgoing players, plus they'd still need to be replaced.
Boxheed: "surely we dont need to sell players like tiote, at the heart of the team. if we got 20m for enrique and tiote what would we do with it????" ................................................................................................................................... Easy................agents fees/underground heating/blah blah blah..................this window has proven 2 things............ 1. Decent players simply getting amazing offers 2. Little known players plying their trade in Lique1 tripling in value overnight.
if newcastle get 20m for these 2, the cash will go straight to ashley, like the 35m yous got for carroll, when will you learn?
*sigh* wumming just isn't the same any more.... you do know you just agreed with the OP right? On topic now, reading between the lines I'd say Chelsea have other options which they'd rather pursue but they do have their eyes on Tiote. HOWEVER out of all our players Tiote is one of 2 (Barton being the other one) who I can imagine flat out refusing to go if he didn't want to. Plus a £10m offer is way below par considering the length of contract he's on and I stupidly am putting faith in the board recognising that considering they allegedly held out for £35m for Candy.
