EDIT: Came on after 5. Must be popular with Goughie and Durham now as they have given us stick in the past...
they love Deeney! He's massively popular on Talksport these days...and he comes across really well. It was a good interview
Really like Deeney , he's a mans man and an ol'fashioned style of player . Can see him becoming a regular sports personality on TV after he retires from the game . Perhaps even the next James Bond ... or Doctor Who . Deeney is heading towards being the greatest loved player to ever wear the Watford shirt ..now right up there with the likes of Luther Blissett , he certainly has my vote . I also think Flores is getting close to being our best ever manager ... I never believed anyone would get near to Graham Taylor ( my hero as a lad ) .
If Flores stays for 10 years, keeps us in the PL and in the top half most seasons, wins the FA Cup, gets into the Champions League last 8 then his achievements would place him up there with GT. Remember the resources that Taylor had to work with, notwithstanding SEJ's monetary input. To take a team from mid-table in the bottom division to a Cup Final, European football and 5 seasons consistently in mid-table or above in the top division was a herculean task given where we started from. Even allowing for the fact that the PL is of a much higher standard of football than the old Division 1 in the 80s, Flores, I'm sure, would be the first to acknowledge that his resources are far and away greater than what Taylor had to work with. Flores is, of course, currently our second best manager - just pipping Harry Kent and dear old Ken Furphy!
Definitely. Said this before, Deeney's got a career in the media after he's finished playing because he just talks simply and with sense, no bull***t.
I would have thought that all those qualities would make it impossible for him to have a career in the media.
Loved this from Adrian Durham: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...d-FA-Cup-defeat-Spaniard-showing-good-is.html
Graham Taylor will always be my number one football hero ..I was there when we were in the 4th and as a young lad watched the rise to the top . Flores certainly has the most impressive CV of all previous managers . I very much like his style / persona . His achievements this year have only really been bettered by GT . As we know, footballing finances have changed massively in the time we have been watching . Now all premier sides can buy excellent players , but the gap between the top clubs and the likes of Watford is still huge . Really hoping the Pozzos savvy over the next few seasons will put us in a position where we fully expect to defeat Man . Utd , Arsenal and the rest . At times I have already felt this way . Really hoping Flores has at least a couple more years at the club ...and takes his place alongside the legend GT . ..Like GT he comes across as very much a genuine " people person " , who is liked and respected by the players. Sadly , respect being something GT lacked in his position as England manager
