What happened to the thread regarding declineing standards in the Biritish game? In response to the OP - I would argue that a big big part of our "not adapting to the changes in world football" stems from the lack of quality training facilities. The weather in this country ruins our pitches so that they become bogs. You cannot teach kids to play in these conditions. Maintaining young kids' interest on a cold day, in poor conditions is very difficult when all they want to do is play to keep warm. I think the answer is a mass rollout of 3g pitches as this encourages 5 aside or 7 a side games, which will inherantly improve a players short burst play, coupled with techinique, touch and passing. That is how you teach players to play like spain (well actually that is how you teach the technique, as there is also a philosophy too) whereas it is no surprise that when you are young, on a bad pitch you just want to " get it clear", "knock it long", lump it to the big/fast kid upfront....and that is how the prem is played. Does anyone know anything about these kinds of pitches, and how much they would cost to install in schools, sports clubs etc?
I just saw a notice on the front page, and they are switching back to an old database so new threads will be lost! maybe the mods can add new posts from this thread to the old one if they sort out the database
IMPORTANT: Due to the recent malware attack We have rolled back the database to the 25th March. This is a temporary solution until we can find the cause of the infection. All posts made while this notice is active may be lost if we switch back to the most recent database version.
a lot of schools have them,my daughters old shools, junior & senior has them, the problem there is, pe teachers are not coaches
Cheers Boss, Completely missed that message at the top as I shrink the screen at work. Tots, did they have 3g or astroturf for hockey? Astroturf imho is an awful surface as it caused many injuries (especially to the older guys) for my football team. 3g is a grass replicator, and gives more support to joints, more grip, and is like perfect grass...only downside is from sliding = sore legs
Ah, I didn't know it was so widely in use. In that case I shall amend my opinion to simply.....UK coaching is crap.
I would agree with you there,i've said for a long time we need a overhaul of the coaching system, with them concentrating on keeping the ball, and skill
It's kind of amusing that a few years back everyone jumped on the bandwagon of 'not enough competitive sport in school'. No we find that young footballers play *too much* competitive sport! Make your minds up!!!
I'd assume that the difference is between youngsters in general and those that are being considered for professional careers Vim, but it does seem pretty standard for health reports nowdays. One day something's good for you and the next it's absolute poison and will kill you instantly. The truth is probably the old standard about moderation.
