Prompted by the Manager of the month and Di Canio sings Benno threads, I wonder what you lads think of this? Not for managers to readily admit mistakes and to take decisive action normally. I hold CP in massive regard already, but he would go up immeasurably in my estimations if he got Hayesy back, put Clarke out on loan and just admitted that he had taken a punt on a player he didn't know but who had a good scoring record in exchange for one (Benson) who he simply didn't rate, but who (Clarke) had on short close inspection turned out to be a donkey. The simple fact is that we now have one utterly peed off competent striker who provides us with a badly needed alternative style out on loan because we have one too many strikers ( I use the term loosely) on the books. C'mon Chris, we won't think badly of you if you admit to a well intentioned blunder! But we will if you persevere with Dobbin!!!!
Hayes' loan is for the rest of the season. CP must hold Clarke in some regard to keep putting him on the bench. I wonder whether some sort of promises were made about appearances when we signed him?
I thought Hayes deal only lasted a month, but Doherty was untill end of season. If this is the case, Hayes won't be coming back until the end of the month as Powell won't want to basically imply that Clarke is rubbish, but when Hayes does return he should be higher in the pecking order than Clarke. And hopefully he will have a better impression of Hayes as he is proving that he has the quality down at Wycombe. 10 goals in 3 games, 3 of which Hayes has scored says it all really, as Clarke has scored 0 for us in probably about the same minutes as Hayes for Wycombe.
We badly need an alternative striker, someone on the bench who might just come on and change things. Hayes or Clarke?
Recall Hayes now and give Wycombe Clarke!!!!! It worries me that as I've just forked out for next year's seson ticket I could be watching Dobbin in the Championship. I cling to the hope and belief that Chris isn't that stubborn.
I think Clarke has only had one start, which was alongside Kermo and therefore doomed(2 big men). On tuesday we never troubled their 'keeper, and our strikers have had a pretty lean time, so there are other areas where there is work to do let's not overstate Clarke's importance.
Never mention Hayes and Clarke in the same sentence, if I might read it, with out adding adjectives such as unlucky, skilful, inventive or clever to the former and clueless, donkey, rubbish, overrated, journeyman to the later please. Thank you
Chris Powell really needs to work out how to use subs, Waggy came on early, presumably for an injury. However what happened after that, the first half we will write off, 2nd half the lads ran their socks off, 2 goals closer but out of steam. What should we do, bring on new fresh legs but what does CP do, nothing, either he now realises he's made a mistake getting rid of Hayes & bringing in Clarke & does not trust him or what ? Why do nothing, fresh legs were needed & he did nothing ? Why. A major mistake on CP's part I'm afraid
Time enough to recall Hayes from Wycombe and let them have Clark, but agree Clark was an unused option who could have done for us what Forte did for them in the first half purely on his physical presence. Interesting to see CP have words with the ref at conclusion. I don't think CP's match report ont he referree is going to be very complimentary and rightly so.
Clarke was warmed up and stripped down for quite a time yesterday, yet CP did not bring him on even when Kermit looked ready to expire. So what was the point in having him on the bench, I wonder?
To prove to the Chairman that the swap deal wasn't that bad? A clause in Clarke's contract saying he HAS to be in squad?
