Ok so you have written your team sheet out, and this is how it stands: Boruc Clyne Yoshida Hooiveld Shaw Cork Sneiderlin Lambert 3 Spots are up for grabs. This is your best squad regardless of games coming. Who takes the 3 spots? Choose below: Lallana (Captain!) Ramirez (£12m!) Puncheon (The Pou!) Stephen Davis (Solid!) Rodriquez (In form!) Guly do(h!) Prado ( )
I maintain that our most talented 3 are Gaston, Lallana and Jayrod and as such if they all play to potential then it would have to be those 3. But this season I'd say Jay Lallana and Davis have been our best 3.
We've had threads like this before and my answer is always the same: whoever is in best form and fitness, or most suitable for the game. It's never going to be the same three for a whole season, we need probably 6 or more good players to fill those spots throughout the year.
For this game I'd probably favour Rodriguez Gaston Lallana, but it really changes on a game by game basis as PTF says, there's no real 'best three' at this point.
Spam sit back letting teams come on in the hope of catching them with the HOOOF. we may need the quality of Ramirez to unlock thier defence or win a free kick
Right now, Jay Rod would be one of the first names on that team sheet. Davis has also been excellent. The beauty of a good squad is that you can mix it up a bit.
Punch Gaston JRod Lallana's natural position is left or in the hole, gaston has to go in the centre. Punch on the right because he's our most natural R player. Davis to come on if/when things get gritty to bring a bit of battle, Lallana to come on for a bit of creativity. Out of interets whats our exact formation atm? Are we still playing 3 attacking midfielders with lambert up to, going back to 4-5-1 in defence? Is it just me or with J-Rod's improvement in form it feels more like we're playing 4-4-2?
I still believe we're playing a very fluid 4-2-3-1, but it can morph into a number of different things during different phases of possession.
So is lambert still leading the forward line? There's much talk about lambert playing a deeper role almost midfield and jay being top man.
Technically yes, but they interchange a lot, so there may be 15 minute spells where for 75% of the time Rodriguez is further up field than Rickie, as obviously Rickie can do a lot of good work coming deep and out on the left, and Jay is a striker at heart. But at our base formation I think Rodriguez is a left-sided attacking midfielder and Rickie is a striker.
Well when Rickie drifts to the left Jay Rod will fill the space that Rickie left. That's what they do so well, they compliment each other really well.
I think Pochettino has switched up the front 3. Technically, I believe Lambert is still the striker, with Puncheon/Lallana on the right and Jay Rod on the left but Lambert and Rodriguez appear to switch places a lot. I don't know if it's a formal, agreed-upon before game swap at certain minutes, though. It may be that all three are being given license to play temporary striker and the others cover the vacated spot. But Jay Rodriguez obviously has more of the striker mentality so as a result he's doing it more often whereas Lallana and Puncheon are more comfortable on the wings looking to cut in occasionally when they get the chance (as they always have).
Looks like I agree with the majority on this one. Lallana, Davis and Rodriguez are the players who, at this moment, look like the best choices.
