So, Suarez. Our best striker and most skill full player. A number of times this season he has played up top on his own, but I wouldnt say thats always looked like the best system for us (though that may not be down to Suarez). I actually quite like a 5 in midfield with 1 up top, with runners and pace from the midfield. Pros of Suarez as lone striker: Skill full Can taken on a whole team single handedly He can hold the ball up well Likes to go for goal Can score from tight angels Cons of Suarez as lone striker: He likes to roam around the pitch He runs wide a lot Has a habit of over complicating things He's not the biggest presence in the air When he has played up on his own he has lacked support from midfield at times, and any lone striker needs that support. But is Suarez suited to this role, and can it be a good plan? What are your thoughts on this?
With the right people supporting him yes. I think the answer short term could be using him as a lone striker but long term he needs a goalscorer along side him. Like mentioned before he doesn't seem to have any faith in Carroll, of course that that isn't fact but that's how it comes across. If you look at when we was in form at the end of last season he was playing alongside Kuyt and Maxi, and all 3 of them haven't played much together this season. Or you can stick Gerrard behind so you can get the best out of Gerrard too, the good thing about Suarez is he's very versatile and you can play him in numerous positions and formations. With all that said, maybe it's time Carroll starts every game from now to the end of the season, give him a good of run of games alongside Suarez and with Gerrard in the team. And that goes for Adam, Downing, Henderson and all players who aren't giving 100% on the pitch, these are the players that need to stand up and be counted for or they might not find themselves at this club next season. One thing though, who ever is out representing Liverpool football club on the pitch we HAVE to get behind them and keep faith in them, as long as they're giving everything that's all you can ask for.
Here is Suarez scoring 4 goals against Chile. Not a lone striker though. He played up with Cavani.
He is not quick enough, strong enough or disciplined enough to be a lone (point) Striker in the Premier League. Not now. Not ever.
**** off Schofield,not quick enough.
David "Speed" Schofield....... Eeeeeeeearrrrrrrrhhhhhhh. If we played Hamilton in his mclaren up front as a lone striker you'd be on here saying "not quick enough"
At the moment no. His finishing is largely poor and not something we can count on. For me he's your second man. Makes your opportunities but also smashes in the odd beaut too.
