FC United fan in peace Last week I read a brilliant book called Theatre of Silence written by a lifelong Arsenal supporter called Matthew Bazell. The book was absolutely brilliant reading and he really hits the nail on the head when it comes to how much of a farce the game really has become. Football is no longer the working mans game anymore. The costs of tickets is very expensive, the club merchandise is very expensive, the new owners dont have any interest in football club other than seeing it as a quick buck or a toy. The clubs are seen as franchise and the football fan is seen as a football consumer. Players are on ridiculous wages with complete contempt of the average football fan. Corporate boxes and suites as well as sponsors at games. Corporate interests deciding times and venues of games. Football agents such as Joorabchian, Gaydamak and Zahavi totally destroying the game with their manipulation of clubs which have been the hallmark of a community for close to or over a hundred years - Portsmouth being the example where Gaydamak wanted to sell of Fratton Park to a supermarket chain apparently. Abramovich and Glazers levelling all their debt onto the club so when they have finally had enough they wont feel any losses. Quite frankly why put up with this rubbish.Ive had enough and I will no longer support Manchester United because this is something I will not contribute my hard-earned cash to. The likes of FC United and AFC Wimbledon have the right ethos and direction and I encourage football supporters to stop plying their misplaced loyalty to the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd because quite frankly they are no longer the clubs which formed part of the community. They are sliding towards Starbucks and Emirates corporations and the future is the likes of FC United, AFC Wimbledon etc
