I haven't gone away or deliberately reduced my postings but circumstances, both at work and at home, have resulted in me not posting as much recently. I will still be around but not as active until after Christmas. Cyd has asked me to remain as a scooter and Super seems happy with that as well so I will remain so until I become a liability and then (with luck) I will be shown the door with a £1.6m payout. With regard to Jon, I think the compromise of him restricting himself to just one everlasting thread where people can comment if they so wish (sort of Jon's Bar) or totally ignore it, is an excellent one and hopefully resolve a major problem for those who are not currently posting. If you also add Jon to your ignore list you will not see his contributions to non-Jon threads as well. Why are Super and I so reluctant to ban him? When there is conflict (between two groups) there is generally two ways of dealing with it (1) the Mugabe way of permanently removing his opponents or (2) the Mandela solution of both sides calmly discussing their problems and hoping to reach a solution which is agreeable to both parties. Sometimes the path to this solution can be rocky and difficult to follow but with understanding and the wish to succeed on both sides we can all achieve some amazing feats. I hope people can give the site a second chance and eventually (over a bit of time) feel able to give Jon a second chance to join in the discussions on the mainstream threads. He is not a bad man (far from it) a little over enthusiastic at times, but not a bad man and he just wishes the best for Charlton. Anyway, I have taken far too much of your time. Nice thread, AllHell - although I am a little bemused by your mention of Mandela. Not everyone agrees with his impending canonization. But, hey, I will leave the political stuff in case SuperC gets upset. As for JA: we have lost Franco, Tewks and DVDDD, plus some other valued posters are staying away. That is a problem in my eyes. What is a scooter?
Nicely put AH. I think I've been aiming to say a similar thing, but you have a more eloquent way of putting things. I will add, it's a massive shame to see some familiar faces not around as much.. but in some instances please don't assume all are because of JA. Like the theory of him creating multiple accounts with different names- it isn't the case. There are still plenty of fantastic personalities here, even you Ponders!
