Deano's been made bankrupt after a London court today heard he had an outstanding tax bill in excess of £150k.
Ex-Premier League footballer Dean Windass made bankrupt http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-38292040
I don't think being made bankrupt will make any difference to him other than HMRC will stop chasing him.
I think you're right Peter, though what is the situation on pension funds now? Before it used to be more or less ring fenced and safe from being included, but there has been some high profile cases whereby the courts have taken money from pension funds in certain cases. Having said that Deano probably didn't have one.
Dean Windass @DWindass10 (1/1) Sad to be declared bankrupt today. Took some bad financial advise on the film industry in 2001, a lot of other players did too. Dean Windass @DWindass10 (2/2) However thanks to @HullCity and my fiancé I have now got my life back on track. Thanks for all the kind messages. Deano XX
I think footballers usually have pensions and can start drawing them at 35 http://www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk/about-pensions/when-things-change/bankruptcy
"Where a pension is already in payment, a TIB can apply to the court for an income payments order under the terms of the Insolvency Act 1986. This order would require you to contribute towards paying off your debts, from your pension payments. The order can require you to contribute in this way for a maximum of three years. This is subject to you and your family being left with sufficient income to live reasonably, after any deductions have been applied. This can continue to apply even when you have been discharged from bankruptcy." http://www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk/about-pensions/when-things-change/bankruptcy
John, I doubt he would have enough money left at the end of the month, after pissing it away, to invest in a pension fund.
so is Deano one of the people affected by this: HMRC claims victory in film tax battle http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36986483
I heard the Allams gifted him the £155K, but only later revealed to him it was loan appreciating at 5%. The oldest trick in the book apparently.
Good that the club supported him during a ****ty time. A proper local legend. Some of you are just despicable arseholes.
Top bloke is Deano....The legend lives on. I assume this means, he won't be eating porridge at one of Her Madge's hotels any time soon.
