Three Keane Lewis-Potter has spoken of his delight and pride at signing his first professional contract with the Tigers. The 17-year-old starlet, who has been on the books at the Academy since the age of 13, put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half year deal at the KCOM Stadium on Tuesday night and is looking forward to continuing his progression in the Tigers' ranks. "Obviously I'm delighted to sign the contract," he said. "It's difficult to sum up how happy I feel right now. "It's something that I've been working towards since I first started playing football and to sign professional terms with my hometown Club is something that gives me an awful lot of pride, joy and delight. "It's been my dream to play for Hull City since I was little, and this is the next step towards turning the dream into a reality. "It's nice that the hard work that I've put in over the years since first coming here at the age of 13 has been rewarded. "But just because I've got this contract doesn't mean the hard work will stop. I know that I've got to continue developing and improving in all areas of my game, which in turn will hopefully bring further rewards in the future." Lewis-Potter has showcased his talents at both Under-18 and Under-23 levels during the current campaign. Starting the season as part of John Anderson's Under-18 side, the youngster has scored an impressive ten goals in just 16 appearances for the Youth team - form which saw him selected for Jon Beale's Development Squad where he has continued to be amongst the goals, finding the back of the net on four occasions in ten games. Reflecting on his campaign so far, Lewis-Potter added: "I'm just happy to play football at any level. "Getting the opportunity to step up the Under-23s this season has proved to be an invaluable experience and something that I feel as though I've benefited massively from. "I've scored goals at both Under-18s and Under-23s levels this season, but I just want to continue playing games, scoring goals and improving in all areas of my game."
"It's been my dream to play for Hull City since I was little, and this is the next step towards turning the dream into a reality." Good to see youngsters, local youngsters, getting deals. Let's hope they prosper and don't just sack the club off at the first sight of money.
Good to see the club are finally starting to get some of the youngsters signed up for a longer period.
Irvine and Moses aside, there are more youngsters with experience at league 1 level than first team players.
I'm pretty sure we will see 3 or 4 of them in the first team next season if we go down, maybe 2 if we stay up.
I don't doubt that we won't see him with us next season, though I haven't seen any tweets lately of him indicating that. He did a few weeks ago put a tweet out suggesting that he hasn't been offered a new contract, but he deleted it, saying he was only joking. However most felt there was truth in what he was saying.
He' definitely going not long seen it on Twitter he ad a years extension but club have not taken up the option
https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/david-meyler-confirms-set-leave-1280396 David Meyler has confirmed he will be leaving Hull City at the end of the season. The midfielder’s contract is one of a number set to expire at the end of the current season, but it seems this campaign will be his last at the KCOM Stadium. Meyler has featured just four times in the league under Nigel Adkins, despite being a regular under Leonid Slutsky earlier in the season, and it looks as though his near six-year association with the Tigers will come to an end. Read More Hull City news LIVE - Nigel Adkins holds press conference and Swanny has his say Following confirmation that three of City’s promising youngster’s had signed new deals – Keane Lewis-Potter, Tyler Hamilton and Robbie McKenzie – the Irish international took to social media to confirm he would not be signing a new deal at the club. “No and there won’t be any”, Meyler replied to a fan asking if there had been movement about a new deal. However, in a later tweet he confirmed the club held the option to extend his contract for a further year, but have decided against taking the option. I did have a one year extension but the club decided not to take it,” he added. It means the vice-captain will be looking for a new club at the end of the season, and with captain Michael Dawson also out of contract, as well as Seb Larsson, Allan McGregor and Abel Hernandez, City could find themselves short of senior pros within the squad.
Well, it doesn't surprise me, but will be very sorry to see him go. I would have thought he would have been a favourite of Nigel, but seems to have fallen out of favour with him. I have always like him. I thought our best midfield in the EPL when SB was with us was Robbo/Meyler/Hudd/Jake/Elmo, when we played 352.
Can see Mcgregor going with Meyler, two strong characters, maybe not to Adkins liking or not showing the commitment in the warm up that Adkins demands.
After some of the tripe served up by the first XI this season, play nine or ten of 'em! The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
